Welcome to the forum and congratulations! You are starting a whole new life and with that comes some adjustments. Stay close to the forum it is full of wonderful information. Don't be surprised if you find yourself crying, getting mad, and wanting every type of food under the sun. Even stuff you don't or wouldn't normally want to eat. This is head hunger and it is a little tough to get past but you will. It does get better! I hope you are feeling well. Remember to drink your liquids and get your protein in.
Yes things will get better. I am exactly 2 weeks out and I forget I even had the surgery until I drink something too fast. But i've exercised, been to the mall and walked around. I even went to church today. I plan to go back to work on Wednesday. Each day will get better and better.
I had my surgery on 9/26, and today was really rough - first day home. I haven't been able to drink near the amount of liquids I should be - I've had to forget about the protein - I feel nauseous, and whenever I sip, my stomach grips up in what feels like a clenching knot. Then there's the reflux whenever I lie down. Added to the misery is the constant trying to burp. I have gone for a few walks, but am not feeling well enough. I don't have a fever, but it feels like it to me, and then I get the chills. Help!
Welcome...and yes it gets better and better...just take it slow and follow your NUT and surgeon's instructions. sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk

On my 3rd night after surgery I was up at 3 am on this site looking for answers for similar symptoms...I had the chills and the shakes with no fever, kept an eye on that for two days but did decide to just go back to bed around 5 am (after reading helpful hints here for two hours) and felt better upon waking. My turn around day was the morning of 6th day post-op, awoke feeling almost human again. I was a bit discouraged because I was reading here how many were out and about by the 6th day, but not me, and my stamina took a good 3-4 weeks to come back, I still tire easily at almost 8 wks. post-op, but I feel wonderful with my weight loss, 32 pounds as of last Saturday is a blessing. I do walk now about 2 miles a day, working on increasing that weekly but am amazed how much easier it is to get my fluids in now, can even gulp if I need to!! It is a process, give it time, you will look back on your journey and not even remember the first week and its difficulties...take care.
Welcome and congrats on getting your surgery!
