Well this is actually the first day I have felt a little human since having my sleeve Monday the 23rd. My daughter also had her's done at the same time. We thought we would breeze right through it. Nope, at least not this first week.
My daughter has had a really ruff time. When the surgeon got in there he found her spleen with infected and really swollen. Probably is not working at all. She started getting really sick that night throwing up blood. She couldn't keep anything down all the next day Tues. They finally had to take her back in and do a scope. They found that the sleeve was ok, but the opening into the sleeve was bleeding, swollen and was not allowing anything to go through. So they put a stent in to hold it open. That has to come out next Friday. She came home yesterday on her forth day. Still very weak and sick to her stomach but a tiny bit better today.
My self..the surgery went good expect they found a large hernia and repaired it while doing the sleeve. I had most of my pain in my chest, shoulders and back. They tummy hurt very little. I was up walking 2 hrs after surgery. Felt good. So Dr let me go home tues afternoon. It was so hard to leave my daughter there. All night Tues, I began to have chills and my fever spiked up to 101.5. Well needless to say, I was back in the hosp. in less than 12 hrs of getting out. LOL After many bags of antibodies my fever stayed down to 99. So we both got to go home together this time on Thur.
My biggest problems now are my chest and shoulders still really hurt..(dr said that is from the hernia repair) my tummy is just tender. I can't get the diarrhea stopped either. Doesn't matter if its a Popsicle or whatever it goes right through me. It's about a loosing battle trying to keep hydrated with this going on!!
With all that being said, I feel much better today. Just having hunger pains/gas pains. I am so looking forward to that Protein Shake on Monday!! My hubby is having his sleeve done around November the 6th. I was so afraid he would change his mind after seeing us. But he is going forth with his surgery. He keeps asking us everyday if we wish we hadn't got it done. My daughter (24) says "I wish I hadn't of done it) But she will change her mind when she gets feeling better. I'm sure of it. I tell my hubby when he ask me, "Ask me in 3 weeks and I'll let you know) LOL
