I was wondering when you were able to eat bread/toast again? I don't plan on having it anytime soon but I am just unclear as to when I am allowed it?
nothing good comes from bread. try not to eat it at all. Good luck
My nutrionist said to "toast" it before eating. I have had some, but find that I don't really want it so much any more since there isn't much space left in the stomach and I 'd rather put something good in there. I got a small bacon cheeseburger from Burger King last weekend and removed the top piece of bread and the edges of the bottom piece. It worked for me. Also got a Chick-fil-a sandwich but ended up eating on the meat (1/2 of it only). I have found that I just don't want the bread.
AFTER you reach goal and learn to live thin, then you may have a bite of bread but honestly why bother. It's a slider food with no protein...run from it!
=)
I have been wondering as well. I have heard so many people who say that bread made them sick. My doctor allowed crackers and toast with soft foods, and sometimes I have a slice of melba toast with my chicken or tuna salad on it. Other than that, I plan to stay away from it in my weight loss stage, but perhaps have a piece now and then later on for something like an open face roast beef sandwich or something along those lines. Everybody says try it in very small quantities first, to know how your body tolerates it.
I don't really have any desire for it anymore. I've eaten the odd croissant (major slider food for me so I avoid it), but toast, buns, bagels, etc I don't eat.
My NUT suggested to give it at least a year for pasta, rice and bread. Why add it if you don't get any benefit but bulk. I have not missed it at all. It was something that I just added to my diet as an additional filler on my plate. A year will allow me the chance to get all the other nutrients in my diet without filling up on non nutritional things.
I find it too bulky to consume. I've tried it, I've also tried brown rice and by tried I'm talking the equivalent of two teaspoons full or 1/4 slice of bread. Seriously one mouthful is all I wanted as that type of food is designed to fill - and I don't need filling anymore.
I wish and pray someone had told me to never eat it EVER again!!!!! So here I am telling you as a friend....DONT!!!!!
Yes I can eat it and have it at dinner...but I wish I never had started...looking back my 4 month stall happened once I started adding back in carbs since my NUT told me to!!!!
So just give yourself a HUGE present and dont even put a peice in your mouth until you hit your goal weight!!! You'll be glad you didnt!!!!
I really don't want bread anymore. I have had a half a piece of toast once or twice but for this to work you have to watch your carbs and if you eat your protein and then vegetables there is little room for carbs I think carbs are what got me into this trouble in the first place.
My doc says I can have well cooked pasta now toasted bread now and UNTOASTED at 3 months. If you check your local health food store you can recipes for low carb bread and such. I have a 100% whole wheat sugar free low carb bread that I like. I still try to stay away but sometimes I do have a piece.
Like with everything else, moderation is the key. Everyone likes bread...broad statement but generally true. After about 11 weeks, I can have the odd slice of bread. I find that toasted is better and does not feel like you've just swallowed a baseball. My treat is a slice of toast with egg and bacon on a Saturday morning. We had some toasted ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches the other night, which was also quite good to break the monotony of protein and salads every meal. As long as you are aware that the carbs in bread will probably make you stall a bit, you should be fine.
By this time we "sleevers" are probably quite well informed on what is good and what not so good for our bodies. "Falling off the wagon" once in a while will not kill you....just be aware of what you are doing.
I had planned to totally stay away from bread then the receptionist at my surgeon who was sleeved said she on occasion has a piece of thin crust pizza. I'm far from that. I am going to avoid all carbs for as long as possible unless it is in greek yogurt for more protein.
