Default is this thing on????? so frustrated!!!

I'll be four weeks post op on Tuesday. I lost only 8 pounds pre op but have lost 24 pounds day total so far. I am able to eat soft foods now. I've been stuck at EXACTLY 254.4 freaking pounds for 5 days now.I'm getting app 70 grams of protein n 66 0ounces of fluids each day. I've started the gym. I've lifted weights, done zumba, bikes, walked on the treadmill and am doing well with my new lifestyle. I'm barely eating anything because well four bites fills me, but I always make sure indexing my two protein shakes each day. I'm eating tuna salad, chili, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, high protein low fat lean cuisine foods. SO WHY THE HELL ISN'T THE scale MOVING ??? My ass is FAT and should be shrinking. No one has even noticed I've lost 25 pounds yet but I've gone from almost 279 to 254. I even wondered if I'm not consuming enough calories so I ate a half a piece of meat pizza at dinner the other night hoping that lil extra fat n that lot of carbs would jump start my system. NOPE, NADA! WHAT AM I DOIBG WRONG???? Liquids check! Pooping check! Sweating my as s off during exercise check! Fluids n protein check!!! Am I missing something????? Any insight would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!!! I'm so frustrated! I'm working so hard but Grrrrrrr!

    1st dr visit 7/3/13 278 lbs
1 week after pre op diet 8/6/13 270 lbs

I hear your frustration. I have not had my surgery yet but I am hoping to wake up and be a size 12 LOL! I am sure it will work, hard to believe it won't. My nutritionist recommended I stay away from carbs for the first several months. Maybe that is the problem?

All you new guys......IT IS THE THREE WEEK STALL.
Sorry for shouting but there is a large proportion of messages on this very subject daily from newly sleeved folks. Gets a bit repetitive to answer the same question. Anyhow....Pop those key words into the search box and you will see a bunch of posts on the subject and some kind members have posted info on the science behind why the stalls occur. Interesting reading. No need to worry, start measuring yourself and work to keep calm - this too will pass.

I say three week stall and developing muscle. Go by your measurements and not your scale for 10 days and then come back. I am 5 weeks out and have changed to only visiting the scale every 10-14 days. It will come off, don't bring yourself down you are doing great

When I left the hospital I weighed 10 pounds more then when I went in for my sleeve. The doctor assured me that that is normal. The first several months I was only losing 1 to 2 pounds a week, I think there was actually a week I lost 3 but I rook those concerns to my doctor. My doctor said, "Everybody loses at a different rate and as long as I'm losing every week he is happy with that."
He might of been happy with that but I wasn't. I started evalluating my diet. I stopped all carbs with the exception of the carbs in my greek yogurt, protein drinks and and veggies. I also joined a gym, I started working out hard doing intense cardio. And that did it. I started losing 3 to 4 pounds a week, of course after about 5 months post-op the weightloss slowed down but I kept at it. By the time I was 10 months out I had lost 130 pounds, taking me from 260 to 130. Now that I'm at 11 months out I'm at my ideal weight of 122.9. (I have to update my ticker) You can do it!
Let me know if I can help in any way.

    Best Wishes,
    Rose

you're doing everything right! The scale will catch up. Maybe you need to add some healthy fats...avocado, a drizzle of olive oil, nuts? I find that healthy fats and carbs are the key to kick starting my weight loss. I just added a piece of whole wheat toast to my eggs in the morning and the scale moved the next day! you may not be at that point yet. I agree with the others that said to measure yourself. I notice that when the scale doesn't move that the measuring tape has moved. Stay off the scale for a few days! I guarantee it will move again....

I have stalled several times and it is frustrating each time! However, it is temporary!! Your body is still adjusting and getting used to everything. I think it is a common trait of all of us that we are waiting for something to show us that this is not going to work for us, that we are different and something is wrong. Hang in there! This really does work!!

First of all "Muscle does not weigh more than fat, any more than lead weighs more than feathers. A pound is a pound is a pound. Where the misunderstanding often comes in is that muscle is much more dense than fat, so that, by volume, it seems to weigh more. That is, a pound of muscle occupies less space than a pound of fat. In addition, because a pound of muscle burns more fat than a pound of fat, even at rest, by increasing your lean muscle tissue mass, you're helping your body burn more calories." -weight watchers

You have just hit a stall. We all do. It will pass. I have points where I will not loose, then I will gain a pound and bam I will loose 2 or 3 pounds. If you are doing all the right things then you are fine. It's not all going to fall off in one day. Are you measuring yourself? I bet you're loosing inches. Keep calm and sleeve on!!

Don't worry! A stall at one month out is very common. I had the exact problem and even gained 2 lbs. Continue your diet and the scale will start moving I promise! Good luck!

I would like to make a simple observation. You have lost 24 pounds in 4 weeks which is 6 pounds a week. People who are fighting to lose weight who did not have surgical intervention are lucky to drop 2 lbs a week. I am now 18 months post op and I have lost 105 lbs give or take and would still line to drop 10-15 additional. You need to thank your lucky stars you were able to have this tool to help you, keep eating right, keep exercising your ass off and STOP complaining.
