Default 3 Months Post Op...Any Words of Wisdom?

I am 3 months and a few days post op and I feel GREAT!! I have had no nausea or anything! My only worry is that I haven't lost as much weight as I hoped I would. I am down 70 pounds total, but only 40 since surgery. I kind of feel like a failure when I read that some people have lost 60! Ouch! I have to admit that I don't get all my water, so is that why I haven't lost as much? I don't eat sugar or anything like that...I'm a good girl! I have this pattern of stops and starts, though. I will lose five pounds, then stall for a week and half then lose five pounds, then stall....I have had this pattern pretty much the whole time. It has just been something that I've had to get over or I'd have gone nuts! I am hoping that the dietician and doctor don't fuss at me for losing slowly, but I promise I am trying! I exercise 4 or 5 times a week to an aerobic walking video and everything! Anyway, I just wondered if anyone out there has some words of wisdom for me?

For those of you who are getting ready for surgery...I have ZERO regrets! It is the BEST thing I have EVER done for myself! If it takes me 6 more months or even a year to get to my goal, then it just will! Slow or fast...I will make it!

I have lost 45 since surgery. And your starting weight was lower than mine. You are on the losing track and that is what counts. I have found that now that I am not required to drink shakes my weight loss has slowed, but I am losing consistently and slowly and I am happy with my food options.

The best advice I ever got from this site was not to compare your weight loss or journey to anyone else. It is futile and pointless. 40 lbs in 3 months? That is 13.3 lbs a month or 3.3 lbs per week. Doesn't seem too bad in my book. Sometimes its not about doing everything perfectly. Your body and hormones will do what they want to do when they want to do it so just take it easy and do what you have been advised to do. Keep up the good fight!!!

You are on track and very similar to many of us here. I am a slower loser and lost more weight in the 6 months before surgery than the 3+ months after totaling 70+ pounds.
The benefits are the same as far as being off all meds and feeling great with the added benefit of better skin tone.
I do three sessions a week of strength and resistance with a personal trainer (have been doing this for 5 years) and also 30 minutes cardio three sessions a week (walk, jog and now can also run ... building up to the 5k for next year).
Words of wisdom ..... None .... you are doing great ... Congrats!!!!!

that's exactly how my body is and you know i think its fine for me as i don't think your body can sustain losing continually..it has to rest whilst it reshapes itself and i find also when i am not losing on the scales that I have lost inches in my body.. so don't lose heart.
I am just happy to lose anything when i look at how big i was and how i am now i am just happy with each day that passes. Our bodies are different and I find it easier not to measure myself by another persons loss in weight. We are unique. You will get there just think how many years it takes to put it on and we all of us want it off in a moment...
    Good luck with your journey
    Hev

I agree with everybody else! You are on target! I would not be concerned with what others are doing. This is your journey and you will lose the weight when you're supposed to. I have a similar thing going on with me. You may be building more muscle at this point since you are down 70 pounds!!!!! SEVENTY POUNDS!!!! That is an accomplishment and as long as you're feeling good, keep doing what you're doing!

Congrats and best of luck moving forward!

We all have a different weight loss rhythm. What's happening to you is your rhythm. My rhythm is lose big then I stall for 2 or 3 weeks. This last stall was 3 and 1/2 weeks the next week I only lose 1 pound, guest what I am in another stall. But I have dropped 2 dress sizes. So when I am not losing weight I am losing inches. You are doing find just work with your sleeve rhythm , your body is in tune with that rhythm. So don't compare yourself to anyone else. All our bodies react different to the weight loss.

In the begining I was only losing 2 pounds a week. It wasn't till I went to the gym and did hard core cardio did the weight start coming off faster. You will see, when you're at 4 months out it will even slow down more.

As far as comparing your weight loss with anyone elses, you shouldn't. Keep in mind, The more someone weighs, (especially a man) the more weight they will lose.

    Best Wishes

I'm also 3 months out. Down 74 total, 49 since surgery. I was a little discourages when I looked at the calender for August where I track my weight and seen I only lost 12 pounds. My husbands response was "when was the last time you lost 12 pounds in a month before you had the surgery". He's right. That was NEVER!! I think you are doing great. Don't get discouraged. You didn't gain all the weight in 3 months so it's definitely not going to all come off in 3 months. Keep up the good work!!
