Default gave in to the chocolate

I was trying to stay away from chocolate flavored everything (sf pudding, protein drinks) I know what you were thinking.....You thought I was eating the real stuff. No, wanted to wait as long as possible so I would feel like I earned that chocolate or at least it was special . I have heard a lot of people say how they got sick of it. On a good note I tried my first protein shake today...so far so good. Going down ok and I am sip sip sipping it. Have not had any pain from eating yet. Yesterday I had chicken broth, sf jello pudding, sf jello. Got down about 40 oz of fluids. I am trying really hard to get in those 64 oz's. That is my goal today. My protein shake today is my first try at protein (30 gms) Does that get included in my liquids? Still amazed with weight loss so far. It almost makes me cry to think that this may be the answer I have been looking for. The football game went well last night (was kinda hot) so I am headed to a soccer game this morning (Son plays soccer and baseball) I have missed his first two. Think I might try a little more walking today. Have a great day guys!

Sounds like you are doing fantastic! I am still drinking Premier chocolate flavored and it's the only one I haven't gotten sick of. Congratulations on the weight loss it's a fantastic feeling. I too think this is the only thing that would have helped me and am so grateful for having had it done. Take it easy at the soccer field today and you might bring so G2 or Smart water with you so if you get really hot and sweat you are replacing your electrolyetes. I am so glad you are doing so well!

Thanks Kelli, I took G2 to the football game last night and plan on the same today. Premier Chocolate is what I am trying today. So far so good. Looks like I might only be able to drink about half for now and save the rest for later. My tummy sounds like a thunder storm again this morning. Cracks me up!

LOL I ate lunch at work yesterday and went back to my desk. My stomach had perfect timing because every time a parent came up to my desk my stomach sounded off!! I just looked at the people and said "I guess my stomach had something to say!" Oh well, I will take that over obesity any day!! Enjoy the soccer game today!!

Glad you did okay at the game. I can't stand any flavor of protein. I just make it strong and choke it down. Lol

CoComom... I just wanted to comment on you saying you wanted to feel like you "earned Chocolate" or that it was "Special". Personally I don't ever want to give any food that much power. Food ran my life for many years. I was on an emotional rollercoaster being controlled by what I was eating or what I was depriving myself of. Since being sleeved (only 1 month ago) I look at food as fuel. Chocolate has no special meaning for me anymore... it's just a flavor. I don't want any emotional attachment to any food. I don't ever want to look at Chocolate, or any other food as a "reward". Sure... I will treat myself from time to time, but some of my old trigger foods are forever off the menu. If you enjoy chocolate... the EAS ADVANTEDGE Dark Chocolate RTD shake is really good.

Hi-- I had my sleeve on Aug 14th and drink the Premier protein drinks too. The chocolate is good. And it DOES count for your fluids

If you like skim milk or soy milk, one think I've done is to pour the Protein drink into a glass and add some skim or soy milk to thin it out a bit. After the first week, I found the drinks heavy and hard to get down for some reason. Thinning it out with 1/4 cup helped a lot--so if after a while the chocolate shakes start to feel thick, you can try this.

Nothing wrong with a little chocolate! I'm really surprised at the fact that I can now eat the right serving of foods. My daughter likes hazelnut chocolate spreads. She wanted some this morning and I thought "how yummy- wonder I could eat a teaspoon full" We sat down with our spoon and just taking small bites from a teaspoon I was able to enjoy chocolate I was satisfied with that one teaspoon full which amazed me! Before surgery I would have eaten half the jar or more in one sitting.

I think once we get fully healed, we will be able to eat what we enjoy with the right portions.

At my one year follow-up last week I asked about protein shakes counting as a liquid and was told "yes"...I love the Oh Yeah chocolate shake and it has 32 grams of protein - a nice treat - also like the strawberry Oh Yeah premixed shake.

Not really seeing chocolate as a reward but I am constantly seeing people say they cannot drink another chocolate protein shake. So I am trying other things first. Chocolate not my favorite flavor but don't want to get burned out on it. Seems to be the best of the protein shakes so far.

You can order the Oh Yeah shakes on Bariatric Surgery Foods: Bariatric Meals & Diet | MyBariatricPantry. I tried them but they were really sweet for me but you might like them.
