Weight loss stalls - graphic of last year for me - just FYI

I was on myfitnesspal the other day and was looking at my weight loss report. Given all the questions about stalls, I thought some of you might find it interesting. Here is a graphic tracking my weight loss since August of last year. August was when I started my three month approval process with nutrition, exercise, doctor and mental screenings. My surgery was in mid-December. You can see some of my stalls have been longer than a month. I expect this will continue as I get closer to my goal (15 lbs away) I am now attempting to keep the weight loss going by increasing my visits to the gym, and doing more strenuous exercise. My calorie intake started out around 1200 calories per day once I was on solid foods, and is now pretty steady at around 1500-1600 calories a day, I really can't do much less or I will start losing muscle and I get uncomfortably hungry - this is based on my surgeon and nutritionist recommendations. I know this seems high to some of you, but I am a 6' 2" guy with a 48 inch chest and 40 inch waist (I am trying to lose some more in the waist and eventually get back to a 36/38 - where I was when I used to be when I was in the military running and lifting weights 4-5 days a week. Don't despair too much over the stalls, stick to the rules and they eventually break, based on my experience.

Verying interesting. Thanks for sharing. Being a visual person, I can see how long your stalls lasted and see that they will break as long as you continue to put in the effort and not give up!

I love being able to see graphs on how I'm doing this is one big reason I use my fitness pal ! Thanks for posting this ...I am one that has to exercise to lose weight if I don't the scale goes up or stays the same so I like to see where I stall etc. I know the farther out from surgery I go the harder I will have to exercise to see those numbers go in the right direction ! Can't wait till I am a year out to see my results !! Congrats to you

im at a bit of a stall right now. been stuck at 304 for about 3 weeks. Not really complaining as 4 months ago i was nearly 376.

Thanks for that. I was complaining about a couple stalls until I realized that they were just about a week long.

This puts it in even better prespective.

Rich...OMG...thank you so very very much for taking the time out to make the graph and post it here on the forum! I've been lamenting over the past several days that I may never reach my ultimate goal of 135 lbs at the rate I am going. I have rarely, if ever, complained or fretted about stalls 'cause I know they are necessary and normal. But sometimes, it does get discouraging.

When I viewed your graph, I felt the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders today! I thought, "OMG...this is me...lose a bit...stall stall stall stall...lose some more...stall stall stall stall...lose a little again, etc."

I'm feeling reassured that if I DO just stick with the program, I will get to my goal of 135 lbs or so.

Yours on myfitnesspal? when you are logged in to your myfitnesspal, there is a top row of buttons, click on the one called reports, weight is the default one that comes up first, then you can choose the reporting period

Wow you look great ! Keep up the good work and Thank you very much for sharing. I have been at a stall myself for the past 2 weeks and I thought I was going crazy. It was very discouraging for me to think that I put my body through surgery and the weight loss is at a stand still. Your post makes me feel like there is hope.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I just reviewed my graph again. Some of my stalls were longer than two months, and I find that I chase 5 lbs up and down the scale for several weeks now before it finally comes off. I think I may cut way back on carbs and/or go back on protein shakes for a week to see what it does. I really want to get down under 230 and stay there. It's so close!

You are doing fantastic! I have not a single doubt you will reach whatever goal you set go yourself! And for the record my body "toggles" with 2-3 pounds for 4-6 weeks before it decides to lose..it has been doing this for the past 5 months! I do my best just to say focused!

I thought I'd share mine - I have not had any stalls at all. I'm very blessed
