One of the biggest concerns I had pre-surgery had to do with enjoying food. I didn't want to continue to eat at the rate I was and be as big as I was, but I also didn't want to stop my enjoyment of food. Food can be wonderful, as long as you've got a grip! I definitely lost my grip (hence the surgery), but I couldn't quit food forever!
SO, I am only one person and my experience may well not mimic anyone else's. But I am pleased to report to those of you who wonder what it might be like post-surgery- in these early days I still love good food AND I can eat a very small amount and feel full and satiated.
My surgeon used that word (satiated) several times yesterday when we met. He feels it's important to have that feeling of fullness and to eat more than protein shakes and yogurt.
Everyone is so different and I do understand if anyone says to themselves, NO- not going to have it ever again. Heck, I give you a TON of credit! I just knew I couldn't do that, but I can choose healthier foods that still taste great and with the sleeve I can feel satiated.
For dinner tonight I had one egg, a tiny amount of cheese and a tiny amount of ground ham all rolled into an omelet. All the good tastes were still there and I enjoyed the heck out of that egg but all I needed was ONE
Such a huge relief to me. Pre-sleeve, I would have also loved the taste of my little omelet, but I surely wouldn't have had one and been satisfied
