I know that Mexico is not ideal however I have no other option. I am 29 and 300 pounds. I have to take medication for high blood pressure depression and pain. I have sever back pain and have days were I can not get out of bed due to pain. Weight loss will help and I have spend 6 years trying to lose it with diet. So please try not to judge I know there are safe Mexico hospitals and weight loss centers If anyone can help with experiance good or bad please do thanks in advance.

I know how hard it is to decide to have surgery, let alone in Mexico. I had my surgery on July 26 in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. My overall experience was not bad, but different from what we expect in the US. I went threw ALighterMe and I gave them like two day notice and they were very accommodating. My pre op diet was minimum due to the short notice. Once in TJ it was okay. I had surgery at MiDoctors hospital and it was a little dinghy but a hospital by the bare minimum of the definition. I say that because it only had the bare necessities to do wls and some of the equipment was very old. I saw several doctors before surgery some were what you would expect to see in the US and some not so much. My surgery was done with no problems. After surgery there was pain but not unbearable pain, the staff did try to keep you comfortable. My only complaint was that I got awful tape burn all over my abdominal, some of the spots are three inches or more in lenght and that one of the drivers removed my drain in tge hotel. But afterwards vthe dotor stopped by and said it was okay for him to do so. I am pleased with the experience because the whole goal was to have a safe surgery and that I did.

I think several different doctors and companies use Mi Doctors hospital so everyone's payment is different. With ALighterMe I paid before my surgery online threw the company's website beforehand. They did charge an extra 3% for credit/ debit cards but I believe you can send a cashiers check also. I believe the going rate for ALighterMe is $4750 but I paid less cause I only spent one night in the hotel.

Hey! welcome to this wonderful forum! I want to say that I had no choice but to go to Mx after fighting ins. 3 times. I went with Dr Ramos Kelly, he went to school in the USA and now practices in Ti. MX. it was a great experience, had no problems whats so ever. The dr. and the hospital was very safe, and hubby was able to stay in the hospital room with me in his own bed at no cost. I did my research before deciding, they picked me up at the airport brought me to the Lacerna hotel(awsome hotel!) then took me to the hospital for surgery stayed 3 days then went back to hotel for 2 days and then went home! Dr Kelly is wonderful, I highly recommend him. good luck in your decission!

Hi Jean: try Costa Rica...it's probably safer according to my hubby. I went there for extensive plastic surgery, stayed at Che Tica Ranch. Email me for more info if you want .

I'm signed up for early October with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. His group runs a center of excellence that is board certified in the US.
My niece had the surgery in the US and her mother had it With Dr. Ortiz. Her mother, my sister, had a much better experience with much less pain and much quicker recovery. My sister is a doctor and did great deal of research before choosing him. There are 2 Doctor Ortizs. I only know about Ariel.

A lot of people seem to be recommending Dr. Mario Almanza as well on this site. It looks like his office chagres somewhere arouns $4750 for Sleeve surgery. I am not using Mx but the best way to find the best Dr. for you is to ask around so I applaud you for that. I wish you the best of luck on this journey

I was thinking of almanza and still have not made my mind up however I really dont like the clinic. I want a hospital and am leaning to dr who use mi doctors hospital. I am comfortable with their reviews so far and have done a lot of reasearch now I need a dr who works with that hospital.
