My 1 year anniversary - LOST 115 POUNDS

Exactly 1 year ago on August 16, 2012 - I had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery. The night before I was so mixed with different emotions - nervous, scared, excited,and hopeful. I had no idea what to expect, how I would feel, or if it would even work, but I knew I was finally ready after 20 plus years with struggling with my weight that i had to make a change, not only for my own future, but for my childrens future. Well it has been exactly 1 year since my surgery and I Have LOST 115 POUNDS. it hasn't been easy by any means either. i have had to make a lot of changes to my life, but its been so worth it. I have a new Outlook on life and feel 150% better. I work-out 4 times a week, I can sit and cross my legs now, I can run around with my kids and not get tired, I can ride roller coasters, so many good things have come out of this and I have no regrets!

I have to ask, did your feet shrink with the weight loss? How was your first 3 months? When did you get the okay to start working out? Just curious!!

Yes the swelloning in my feet, ankles and knees have all gone down. Before the surgery I had a lot of knee and joint problems all of that has gone away now! I didn't actually start working out until 6 months ago and now I go faithly 4 times a week, I do 30 mins of cardio, 30 mins of weight training and 100 crunches a day! The first month after surgery is the hardest. You just had major surgery so it will take awhile to adjust. The recovery wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I actually stopped taking my pain meds on day 6. But I say it was a good 3 weeks before I really started to feel good where I wasn't fatigued or sore. Just remember the first month is crucial. I was on liquids the first whole month, and you got to make sure you get in all of your nutrients in. I did experience some hair loss the first 6 months, my hair would come out in strands and became very thin, and i have very fine hair to begin with, but your body is adjusting and I'm not losing it now! When you start to eat normal again remember to STOP eating as soon as you start to feel full otherwise you will throw up everything you just ate if you don't stop! You will know your limit, trust me!

You will! I didn't know what to expect the first year, I was hoping to be down just 100 pounds by my one year anniversary. Now my next goal is get under 200 by my 40th birthday October 31st!
