Amy Recommendations As To Protein Shakes Lactose free?
Unsweetened almond milk is 30-40 calories per cup and you can do an extra dash of protein powder to compensate for the loss of protein in not having milk. No lactose in whey protein ISOLATE which has the lactose removed so look for those over the concentrates which still has some lactose. Unjury is an isolate, GNC has a good one too. I use a concentrate (Tera's Whey). To stay completely whey free, Jay Robb's egg protein is delicious as well and comes in 4 flavors. Throw in some powdered PB2 (peanut butter powder, super low cal) and it makes the taste delish and adds even more protein and some fiber. Also throw in some stevia and ice cubes, you will have a nice little shake.
If you cannot have the whey protein powder, I know some members on here used soy protein powder as an alternative. I would suggest checking with your surgeon or nutritionist to see if the soy protein powder would be an acceptable alternative should you find that you cannot have the whey.

I totally agree with the use of Almond milk! It has been a life saver, as I developed lactose intolerance as a result of the surgery. I also use the original unsweetened version, 30 cal per 8 oz, 1 gram of protein. I decided to forgo soy milk because of the estrogen like qualities that soy has, I have enough estrogen thank you very much.
Unjury provides about 21 grams of protein per scoop used in the shakes. I do sometimes add an extra half a scoop to increase the protein intake, but not always and right now, I am simply struggling to make myself drink the shakes, not because of taste, they taste great. But simply due to a lack of hunger or thirst. Happy shopping and sipping!!
Before I had my sleeve I went on the HMR program at my bariatric center. The protein based shake called HMR 70 is lactose free & really nummy. It's a powder & you can blend it into an iced shake or make it into a puuding. Kinda expensive though. Link... Diet, Weight-Loss and Weight-Management Leader - HMR Official Site
