Finally Sleeved

Hello everyone. I had my surgery last Wednesday. I am now on the losers bench. I had to stay two night because couldn't hold anyhing down. I am now home.

Question, I can drink fluids pretty well, but when it his my stomach, I hurts. Is this normal? I find that warm tea and jello helps but when it comes to protein drinks, I cant handle it well. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. Does anyone know how long it will be until this healed?

We are in the same boat. I am even having trouble getting all my water in. I hope it heals soon...sigh.

It takes time and everyone is different. Is it an ache or are you doubled over in pain. You had two major surgeries it will take time.

I had surgery on Tuesday and my stomach aches when I drink as well, ESPECIALLY with protein drinks. But I just take it slow and hope it will end soon,

Finally sleeved -- I had surgery 7/23 and also had the hiatal hernia repair at the same time. I am not having that prob .... is it the cold that is hurting, maybe? Did your Dr put you on omeprazole (Prilosec) for a while til you heal? Mine did .... that might be helping.

Try distilled water at room temperature or Poweraide zero.

I was sleeved on July 31st. Everything I eat or drink hits my stomach and I feel a twinge of pain. I'm still on pain meds cuz my stomach feels like I have a ton of pulled muscles. I believe it's normal to feel uncomfortableness in ur tummy. I also add more than the recommended amount of water to my bariatric advantage meal replacement shakes to make them a little thinner. Much easier to get down. As far as tastes changing, I haven't noticed that. Many ppl have talked about things tasting 'off', not for me thankfully.

A simple answer about hiatal hernia is the way the esophagus and stomach connect and the opening of the esophagus being enlarged sometimes (as in my case). Mine and the extent of it was confirmed by an EGD prior to my sleeve. You may be born w/this and it developes over time or who knows ..... research online for better scientific answers. For me, it meant stomach acid was washing back up / reflux / GERD. Since they were operating anyway and "in the area", it was a perfect time to fix it. I'm thrilled!! No acid / heartburn / nothing!! Yay!!
