    Default Carafate??

Anyone taking carafate post op for up to 6 weeks...that stuff is the worst...

This medication is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the intestines. Sucralfate forms a coating over ulcers, protecting the area from further injury. This helps ulcers heal more quickly.

It also helps promote movement of the stomach and intestines to help stuff push through. They gave it to me in the hospital when I got super dehydrated and my stomach was swollen to the point no water or food would go in at all for a week. They tried to continue it after discharge but I found I was also allergic to it. I think it did help the inflammation and for me to get stuff down.

Besides the hives, I think it was good for me for that period of time in my life.
