I'm 3 days out from surgery and have a while to go before I get to have real food. I was just thinking about spicy foods. Will we be able to have them again? I haven't seen anything on this topic posted. I sure hope we can, i love spicy food!
I don't know how spicy you are talking, but I am 10 weeks out and last night I fixed 3 ozs of Tyson cubed Chicken Breast and then added salsa to it, along with other spices. I don't see why you wouldn't eventually be able to have spicy food, that is unless your tummy rejects it.
I have read some people don't tolerate spicy foods as well post surgery. My advice is go bland when introducing solids back into your diet, and then when you know that the food is tolerated well spice it up a little till you reach the flavor you like. I have had spicy foods (Cajun, Mexican and Chinese) and have not had any issues. You will figure it out. Let us know how it goes when the time comes! Good luck with your recovery!
Wow my tummy made a sound just reading habanero... lol
I like spicy food too (Maybe not Habanero spicy) I asked my doctor if I could have it again. He told me to try it a year or more out and only a little bit to see how my tummy reacts. This was for peppers like Jalapenos, banana peppers and seranos... Love love love them.
Ask your doc and see what they say
I eat spicy all the time without any issues. Add jalapeņos to my food often. Good luck.
Yeah, it depends. I'm 17weeks out and I can eat spicy with no problems. I didn't have any reflux problems since surgery though. I think that might be a compounding issue for some people.
I'm 7 weeks out, and I eat spicy foods all the time. I can't imagine not being able to have jalapeņos in my pimento and cheese (and I've been eating a lot of p&c). I have had a really easy recovery — no vomiting, nausea, etc., and, so far, I haven't had any trouble tolerating anything. Fingers crossed that remains. I think the only thing I haven tried yet is beef.
