    Default New Sleever in Pa

    Hi all~~~
Just had my sleeve 6/28...Notice I am a bit moody and sore. Does anyone else feel depressed after this. I am happy with what weight I have taken off since starting my adventure in April. My stating weight was 193 and I am now at 163. My goal is 130 or less.
I am having trouble finding a correct position to lay while sleeping, so I guess that is why I up searching forums!

Update me on what I should be feeling. Thanks justsleeved

It took about a week before I could stop sleeping on my back, After 2 wks I was able to sleep on my stomach, but if I am not careful - sometimes lying on my stomach will push some food ( my 2 - 3 oz meal ) back up my throat & I have to change positions. Other than that, I've had a very uneventful recovery!

I know many people mention being depressed after surgery, I also know that a surgery CAN trigger a bout of depression. Actually any major event can trigger depression, eve a happy one such as having a baby or sleeve surgery. I know it can pass when you start to feel better physically but maybe some people on this forum who have been through this particular thing may have more info. you WILL feel better soon, just try not to let it have the upper hand. Its possible iy might just be PMS at an unfortunate time. I pray you feel better and sleep better!

Sleeping on the back is about it, sorry, I did manage a sideways thing with a large pillow but turning back over was a scream! Literally. The more you get up and down and move the less the cuts hurt. On a particularly bad night take a bang up pain med and get some rest. Best wishes!

Thank you for the feedback on my question. Thank goodness for all of you!!! I guess we are all in this together, and it's nice to know we can relate to each others feelings.

After I found the 'right sleeping postion' I did sleep well and woke up pretty restful today. As for the depression I am on meds and they do help. Sunshine is a wonderful advantage too. I think it may be the 'holiday' and I am bummed because I love doing things, but for now I am grounded.
My decision to have this done, and 'no pain no gain' whatever the circumstances may be!! It will all be good in the end. I know it is just the beginning and we all have emotional feelings at some point. We will all do this together. Thank you so much. I will keep checking in. God Bless you all....

Congratulations on your surgery! I'm following closely in your footsteps, my surgery is scheduled next Monday (also in PA). I hope you continue to do well, and that your depression lifts soon. Such a life changing event is bound to bring some emotional ups and downs. Take care!!

Congrats to you Kim; wishing you the best. I am slowly coming out of the depression already. I have a history of depression anyway, and presently taking meds. I go to my pcp tomorrow in hopes I will be put on a liquid form of medication. My med is in pill form which has to be crushed and put in applesause or yougurt. Very bitter and not too tastey. I feel much better today in the tummy, although I am having 'dumping syndrome', but I think it is because I am mixing my protein shakes in soy milk (just for extra protein). I am going back to fat free milk this evening for my last shake. That may put me back on track. My surgery went well, had no nausea thankfully. Came home the following evening. The soreness is a little tough, but I guess I am not as tough as I thought I was. Never any major surgeries as this before. Today is a good day. I even feel one of my incisions has a slight itch (healing),,,,hope so. I have a trip to NC in 10 days and don't really want to miss it. My daughter and I are traveling with my parents in an RV so since sleeping quarters will not be the same as home I am praying for a speedy recovery.
I see you are in Northeast Pa (good cherry picking country). Are you going to Erie for the surgery? I thought of going there but decided to do Sharon, it is a bit closer.
    Keep me posted. God Bless.

I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better! I'm concerned about post-surgery nausea, so hearing you didn't have any is heartening! I hope you will have a wonderful trip... sounds like a nice way to relax while you're healing. Take good care of yourself! My surgery will be local, at Geisinger in Danville PA.
I missed sour cherry picking this summer... but as raspberries come in, so do sweet cherries!

Had a very good day. I am even laying on my sides very well tonight. The only reason I am still up is due to achy legs! That's because I found myself busier today. Walking more, planting a few flower pots, etc. I think I can say I am truly on the road to recovery. I can see myself wearing 'fun clothes' again in the near future.
You will do wonderful with surgery. Be sure to tell your dr. if you have any history of being sick with surgeries. They difinitly do no want any nausea, so they make sure they give you something before surgery begins. I also had a 'relax' medication in my iv before the surgery. It all went well, my only problem was feeling 'loopey' and very tired for a few days after. Felt like I could sleep for days. My dr. personaly phoned the following day and I told him how I felt. He said in 4 to 5 days I should be alert again, which I was.
Cherries sound good at this time, too bad we have to do the liquid diet for a couple weeks. Just some good fresh fruit will be quite tasty, which I hope to be allowed to have when we head south. I know it all has to be pureed, but it will still be good. My husband and daughter are so good to fix my 'meals' for me, so anything they give me I am appreciative.
    Talk soon....
