I battled Olive Garden and won!!!!!

Okay,I am 1 week into my 4 week preop diet and my boyfriend's family and I went out to celebrate July birthdays and his parents anniversary. We went to the Olive Garden..... I had prepared for this ahead of time. I planned what to eat and took a small container of some dressing that I could use.

I ran the gauntlet of tables to get to ours, in the VERY back of the restaurant. I'm sure I passed every single table and plate in that place FULL of pasta and bread and pizza, and..... you get the picture. So, the other six people in my party ate the wondering looking and smelling pasta and I passed on the bread and had them deliver a salad to me without their dressing and then ordered a piece of grilled chicken on the side. I got through it and didn't feel deprived or anything. Would I have loved to bite into that breadstick? dipped it into some marinara sauce? you bet your bippy! but I didn't......I was so pround of myself. Oh...and I'm down 25 pounds now....in less than 8 weeks...on my own! 3 more weeks of preop diet to go and then surgery!!! I CAN do this!

Way to go!! You will find once you have the surgery you will still be able to go out for dinner. I have been to a lot of restaurants and they have all accommodated me so that I was able to stay within my daily requirements and enjoy the meal. Good luck to you!!

i now order a meatball...just one haha, and eat that and a half of a bread stick. i love those meatballs and they are good about doing it ala carte for me

Yay!!! Last time I was there I ordered 2 plain meatballs with marinara on the side. Delish! I could only finish one. What amazed me was the amount of food everyone else shoveled in. That used to be me. We have conquered!
