    Default Depressed

    Here is my story.

I lost 21 lbs in the 2 weeks before the surgery and 7 lbs before that.

Before surgery I weighed 252 lbs.

Last Wednesday I took my family on holiday for the 4th of July before I left I weighed 240 lbs (16 days after surgery).

WhenI was away I just eat fish, sometimes more than four ounces maybe 6 ounces,I am not going to tell lies.

Came home Sunday and weighed on Monday 241.6 lbs.

Just eating protein I still thought I would lose weight.

    Now depressed as hell.

I have not had surgery but I have read on here a million times that almost everyone goes through a "stall". Keep at it you will start losing again. Good luck on your journey.

While on vacation, I'm guessing you ate primarily in restaurants. They use a lot of salt, msg, etc which causes you to retain water - there is a very good chance that the gain is water weight. Also, if i don't get in enough water, I don't lose. Try upping your water/fluid intake and see what happens. I suspect you will see a nice drop. Don't get discouraged. CoComom is correct. Many people (including me) experience a stall at around week 3 or 4 - it is your body adjusting to your new way of eating.

You have probably hit a stall and it is frustrating as hell! Keep plugging along and doing what you are doing! The weight WILL come off! Good luck!

Reality check: you had surgery less than a month ago! You have lost 38 lbs! Tell me how many people can do that? Believe me, I have been there and still am at times, but you have to keep doing what your dr/nut tells you to do and it will happen! It took me over a year to lose 100 lbs. and the days sometimes are long but when I mess up, I try to shrug it off and get right back on. You are doing great! Celebrate! Why waste the successes being depressed? Its all about your mindset! Hugs and best wishes to you!!!

Listen i know it feels devastating but it is one pound.... I have been stuck on a number for a few days at a time and it literally can be the difference between a BM or not.
I thought you were going to say I have put on 3 or 4 pounds...you probably need to do what My husband did for me and have your wife put your scales away and weigh on Sundays. This way your wont be aware of any stalls.. I know one pound is a lot to you but in the scheme of things it really isn't that bad..keep your chin up and know that it is not just about numbers but about your health and you are going in the right direction! Good luck with it all dont be down hearted you can do this!
    All the best Hev

Sip, sip, sip -- increase your water intake. Watch you sodium intake! Put away the scale and weigh once a week! I will bet that while on holiday you weren't as active either. Also, I find that when it is hot my body retains liquids as well as when I travel -- once it cools down and I get more active the water weight goes away. Look for your NSV's -- your body is still in recovery and adjusting to your new normal, give yourself a break.

Don't let the scale get you down...my progression goes like this. Same number for a week or two. Lose lose lose. Go up a lb or two.....same number for another week...Lose lose lose. Up a lb. Hold there steady. It's a pattern I recognize and don't freak out anymore when I gain.

It sounds like its a "stall". Its normal and its an indicator that your body is adjusting. I am currently on my first stall and I have found that allowing yourself to feel discouraged will make you want to eat the foods that will prevent your weightloss. Drink water, make sure you are taking a good multi-vitimin as your body will be less eger to let go of weight if its not getting what it needs and also watch your fat intake as well as your protein. I find that they go hand in hand in many cases. Don't worry, this will pass and try not to weight yourself so often. I know that "normal" amount is once a week but I find its better if you weigh yourself maybe once every fortnight.

You'll be fine. Keep your eye on the bigger picture and ignore small fluctuations. As long as the bigger picture is one of losing, you're fine.

Did you eat anything other than protein while on vacation? Anything? Even a bite or two of something else?
