This Site is a Godsend!

I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and my surgery is July 16th. I am getting really nervous and a little excited and I realized today that what has helped me with this decision more than all the doctors, articles and google searches I have done are the posts on this site. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to post and share your personal journeys - some very personal. Also thank you for the words of wisdom from the sleeve vets who report about life after the trauma of surgery settles down and they begin to really live the new sleeved lifestyle. The support on this site is incredible and so needed for people considering this life changing step. I now know that I am making an informed decision based on the experience of hundreds of people who have already had the surgery. I know the risks, the good and bad, and the positive benefits. That has brought me to this point and frankly I doubt I would have felt comfortable enough to move forward without it. Yes the ultimate responsiblity and decision for the surgery is mine and mine alone, but all the the comments, support and insights I found here have really helped me. Thank you all for making this such a great site.

Good luck, I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet, day 2 was the worst for me. Felt very lethargic, woke up day 3 and had a ton of energy. Stay strong, and know that every time you have a temptation or craving and get passed it without cheating you're one step closer to your goal. Some will be stronger than others. I've chosen to completely remove myself from as much temptation as possible. Not being around people eating, drinking alcohol, basically anything I usually did all the time.

Good luck to you and keep us posted. Just keep in mind the first few weeks of post-op that it does get better, a lot better. I had it tough with the nausea and the vomiting for the first 5 days. If you would ask me If I would do it again I would say yes. I would definitely do it again. The results are amazing. I haven't felt this good in over 10 years. My energy level is through the roof. I out run my kids now, I love myself. I'm 9 pounds from my goal! I have to post pics soon!

I agree about this site being a godsend. It's where I "go" when I wake up and in the evening while my hubby watches TV. I find encouragement,support, answers to my question...you name it. Thank you to everyone.
