I just had gastric sleeve surgery yesterday and I feel terrible. Im regretting my decision. Is this normal? Please tell me it gets better.
Yes, its totally normal!!! Don't worry. Do some walking around the ward to feel stop being bored and tomorrow you will feel so much better it will surprise you. Also, perhaps tomorrow you will have something to drink and I really enjoyed gently sipping a cup of white tea on the second day. But the first day is total crap. I hope, as it was for me, that this first 1 will wind up being the worst day of your life. If this is as bad as it gets, then its all up from here!
Oh my! I do hope you feel better soon, Im still doing Pre Op for sleeve, but post op Lapband I felt the same way, it just hurts its a part of having surgery and those abdominal muscles, but I am sure your going to be fine and want regret your decision to do this. And Congrats and best wishes I hope for a speedy recovery and I look forward to reading your journey.

I am one week post op and am feeling really good today. The first day I just sipped a little water between long naps. I took my pain meds right on schedule to stay "ahead" of the pain and walked around the house when I woke up to pee/take the pain meds. I felt like crap too but sleeping really help. I think my Google search was "buyers remorse after gastric sleeve" and told my husband I was sorry that I had the surgery. I've never been hit by a truck but that is what I said I felt like. Day 2 was MUCH better!! Hang in there, it does get better pretty quickly! I am pretty sure part of the melancholia of day 1 for me was a side effect of the anesthesia, I really did not feel like myself!
As others have pointed out, it is perfectly normal. In fact, there may be other days, down the road, where you feel as if you made a mistake. Wait until you go out with friends/family and they are eating a huge T-Bone Steak, loaded baked potato, salad, and throwing down the beers. Those are the times I say, "Damn. What did you do?" Then I look at the scale and remember why I did, what I did.
Stay the course, follow your doctors instructions (they are ALL different), and in a few months, you will be happy with yourself. I'm halfway to my goal, after only 7 weeks and can't be more proud of myself, and the fact I had this procedure done. YOU will be too.
I had my surgery on Monday.I felt like crap on Monday and Tuesday.Stomach cramps, gas and I too wondered what I had done.
But today I feel a lot better,to be hones, you just have to take it day by day.You will get better quicker if you walk around
and that will relieve the gas and stomach cramps.
Best of luck.
LOL- The first thought I had after waking up from surgery was, "What have I done?!?!" I had this feeling of regret the entire time I was in the hospital ( a day and a half). I'm now 2 weeks out and 20lbs down, and I don't regret it at all! I've had such an easy recovery and no issues with hunger or drinking. I'm more excited to see where I'll be in a few months to care much about what I am and am not eating. You'll feel better every day!
Wow. Well, I had a terrible recovery and regretted the surgery for a much longer time, but I'm finally reaching a sense of normalcy and am losing my feelings of regret now. Finally being able to drink almost normally makes a big difference. Also, getting to the point that I can eat most foods but with just small portions makes me feel more sane.
