I almost wrote "slow and steady is winning the race" but I've promised myself not to allude to anything that has a "finished" type of feel. So, anyway . . . .I'm over 4 months post-op (17 weeks to be precise). I'm thrilled with the weight loss so far. It's funny because in part it seems like a lot in a very short period of time, other times it feels slow, but it's averaging pretty steady.
I'm losing in fits and starts. Over the past month or so the weight loss was only about 5 lbs. Not much but still a decrease. Then I regrouped, focused on improving my eating by making a few minor tweaks (watching fats more) and began using a FitBit activity tracker about 5 weeks ago and have really focused on getting in my exercise. Then BAM, this morning I step on the scale and I'm down 5 lbs this week. Even more shocking was that this was a travel week but I made good food choices and packed my gym clothes - and used them!
Slow and steady! Averaging it out as 17 weeks and 35 lbs post op (i'm not including the 10 lost pre-op diet) I'm averaging just a hair over 2 lbs per week. I'll take that any day! Some weeks are more, some are less, some are none at all but it's all directionally awesome! I've also lost 16% of my original body weight and 54% of my excess weight. So perhaps it's not so slow after all!
As thrilled as I am for others when I see HUGE losses quickly I also wanted to share that sometimes the losses are a little slower but still successful. We're all unique.
