Hello All

I've started the process for my gastric sleeve surgery (excited). My insurance is through Kaiser and I have to lose 15 pounds before they will schedule me for my surgery. Did anyone else have to lose a certain amount of weight before there surgery?

I also have to lose 15lbs before my surgery. Well.. it was 15 in March, then I had gained 2lbs the next time I got weighed in April so it increased to 17 lol. I've lost 14 of them so far. It was a requirement of my surgeon, not my insurance though. Good luck!

I had to lose 10 pounds between my initial consultation and my surgery. I lost 13 during my pre surgery diet, so it wasn't really a problem.

My insurance is either or. 10% weight loss, or 3 months supervised weight loss. I've only lost 8lbs so far, but my 3 months is up in 2 weeks and I have to do everything I can to not gain, even if I don't lose by then.

Good luck in your journey! The pre-weight loss/weight management portion of this journey I think will prove to be very helpful for us.

I didn't have to lose any weight prior to then scheduling the surgery but a lot of weight loss patients do. It really depends on the insurance company and/or your Physician

I didn't have to lose a percentage or amount of weight but my bariatric center (not my insurance), did require me to do six months of lifestyle classes which I had to have a loss every month or at least stay the same, but no gains. I was so successful with that, that they did my surgery at the 5 month mark. Good luck to you!

I didn't have an amount to lose. Went through the 3 month med sup diet. I've lost 16 lbs and am awaiting approval from insurance company. Good luck on your weightloss!
