Default Just had my surgery needing some encouragment

I has my surgery about a day and a half ago. I am feeling pretty yucky at this point and wondering if I made a mistake. I am having to break down my medicine and it feels like its getting stuck and that feeling makes me sick... Any words of encouragment would be great!

You did NOT make a mistake. The first couple of days you will feel yucky. But that is it in most cases. This is a life changing procedure. Everybody will tell you one of the best decisions you ever will make.

You will not eat as much as before nor crave as much. The only question I have is you are only 58 lbs from your goal. Did you think the sleeve was necessary? Most people are a 100lbs plus when they sleeve.

I'm not sure if my experience is gonna be like what you experience but I felt terrible or the first week and a half. It certainly gets better, hang in there. I could hardly put anything in my mouth with out feeling terrible. But keep drinking and plugging away. I'm now only 5.5 weeks out and feel great. I had zero energy for about three weeks after surgery but that has changed and I am now feeling good. I was second guessing my choice of surgery at first, but I promise it gets better.

It gets better this is dramatic for you and your body and you still have to adjust. In a couple of week you won't regret it. I think it's a phase I went through it also I'm now at week 12 and I look and feel amazing. You just have to put your mind set different now because we have different goals with ALOT of bad happen we didn't recognized at first. It will come around and I promise all of it will be worth it. If I had to do it all over again I would I'm down 38 pound since the day of my surgery and 63 pounds from my first visit and I haven't really exercise it's comming off. So stay in there and good luck.

Starting procedure weight 243; Surgery date March 18,2013 weight 218; Week 10 187 pounds

    Goal weight 145

Oh no, don't fret. We all go through that. Our bodies adjusting and catching up to our minds, that know we did the right thing. You may also in 3-4 weeks stall in your weight loss for a bit, that is also normal. We are all here for each other so hang in there and congratulations in making the best decision for the rest of your life.

Not a mistake Right now your stomach is swollen and hardly anything is able to pass through very easily- even water. If you consider that you just had a major organ cut up and ripped out of your body, I think it helps put a little perspective on things. You can't expect to feel awesome right away, but considering what just happened, you probalby feel okay. Every day will get better. I found, especially in the first couple weeks, that drinking warm liquids really helped a lot. I pretty much lived on chicken broth and herbal tea the first three days or so because the warm fluid felt so good going down compared to anything else.

Hang in there! It'll get better and then you will never look back! I don't even remember not feeling well the first couple days, but when I read back through my early posts, apparently I wasn't. The swelling will go down in a day or two to the point where you can swallow, and it's all good from there. You got this!

Oh my dear I hear ya. My 1st week I thought "what the hell did I do to myself?", I was as sick as a dog for the 1st week and a half. I was not able to keep anything down and was barely getting in 300 calories. So buyers remorse is totally normal, but as other have said and will keep on saying this gets better and will soon be a distant memory, just rest, per my surgeon it takes a full 6-8 weeks to heal. Best wishes on your journey!

it'll get better! i promise! if you can tolerate the pain meds, just take advantage of those and SLEEP. the first few days are the WORST, and i know i too thought "what have i done!?!?!" but i promise it gets WAY better. your body is just recovering now, it needs rest. give it that. you'll feel great soon!

You just had major surgery so you are suppose to feel yukky for a few days or possible week or two until your body adjust, the pain subsides, you start to heal internally and externally, and you are feeling almost normal in terms of energy levels. Hang in there and allow yourself this time to feel yukky because it does get better.
    Warm regards,

I agree with all here..I fretted BEFORE the surgery, not after and I can assure that any adjustments are just that, and you will be fine, even though you can't and shouldn't eat too much or too fast at any one time. Pounds will melt off, but not evenly. My biggest thing is new body image. See "before & after" and you can see why you will have to enjoy a new look and new reactions. Meantime, go day to day and sort of make a little game of it. Join a gym, take walks, build up and enjoy a rejuvenation! We all feel the same war; grateful for the new tool.

It does get better. I had my surgery on May 8th and that first week to week and a half was hell. I had horrendous indigestion and lived on TUMs and Maalox. I'm now on soft and tolerating everything very well. Hang in there! It does get better!
