Default My Journey - Wardrobe Changes

Daydreams. Where would I be without them as I wait for insurance approval? My perfect dress, a special evening out with my husband (exotic location still unknown) and me...thinner...looking fabulous in my perfect dress is my favorite daydream. My search for that perfect dress has me thinking about clothes.

How are you all addressing wardrobe changes?

I held onto one pair of jeans from my ideal weight days. (Granted, this was in 1994 so the things might be dry-rotten by now. lol) The rest of my too-small clothes I gave away or donated.

Are you all shopping NOW for clothes in much smaller sizes?
    Accepting hand-me-downs from friends?
Saving money in a "buy clothes" fund?

A resource that is big in my area is city-by-city FREECYCLE (The Freecycle Network).
We also have really nice high-end consignment shops here in the DFW metroplex.
    And there is always Ebay.

    What works for you?

Hi Wendy - keep dreaming !! I have lost 2 dress sizes so far. I had to buy new knickers but luckily I have kept some clothing in all sizes "just in case" I lost weight and could wear them again. I'm trying only to buy minimal clothes as the weight will keep coming off. But it is a nice treat to buy something in a smaller size and look and feel great.

ps - I wouldn't buy clothes now in smaller sizes as you may find that your shape changes - mine did.

I have bins of old clothes that will get me through for a little while. I then plan to just get a few things here and there until I get to my target weight. To much money to spend otherwise.

I agree...I don't want to spend much money on clothes because as soon as I buy them, they will be too big (at least, I hope so!). I have a few things I have kept as my weight was going up, so I can use those as it goes down. Since I'm not working this summer, I don't need nice clothes for work. When I get close to my goal weight, watch out! It will be so much fun to shop for clothes and I will probably buy out the stores!!!

I have a new Harley leather coat on layaway, the thing cost nearly $400, so I need it to be right. Now last year I would have had to get a 2x, but I bought a large this time around. Because of the cost of a coat, I'm seriously thinking about changing it to a medium, as I don't want it to be too big!! I also have 2 dressy shirts on layaway too, and am thinking the same thing, lol.

I always keep some small clothes to get back into, but I also allow myself the luxury of buying something new each month as well. We gotta reward ourselves dontcha know, lol!! Resale shops in the DFW area are nice, and you can find some great deals.

I have really enjoyed cleaning out the closet this month. This time around, only clothes that are way to big go in the pile to be donated.

The changes happen fast, it seems that buying clothes that fit today would be a bad idea so, I am just recycling the stuff from four years ago...and some of those clothes are already not fitting right.

I have to admit, I really want to go shopping, as this time, it won't be at the "Big and Tall" shop!
