Talking Chance of a lifetime ~ fixing obesity

After 4 months of appointments and education, I've got a surgery date of June 26th!
I'm thrilled at the chance to lose weight and live better.
It's sort of surreal that its going to happen... I'm a short person with a height of 5'2" and my weight is all on top,
looking forward to feeling normal again!
Any advice about what liquid diet is like after surgery? recovery?

    Congrats on the date!
You'll find that every doctor is different but here's mine...I had three days of clear liquids....I was told to concentrate more on getting fluid in than anything. I added the protein.....I went to Walmart and they had whey protein tubes, I believe in Watermelon, grape and Acea Berry. Watermelon is my favorite. It's very strong so I put in over ice and added enough water to make it 20 oz.
The 1st day is the hardest, then you get used to how much you can sip and how long it will take to get the liquids in.
Starting today I'm on full liquids for a month. I have a supply of Unjury protein powders for this.

    You'll do great.

Mine post op was 3 days clear liquids. Then 2 weeks nourishing liquids - basically any liquid that will flow through a fork or can be sucked up a straw. I found this very easy to do and my focus was taking care of my tender new tummy. I was not hungry and didn't miss chewing - some do. Now I'm puréed foods.

I have been trying to figure out if I am supposed to have protein drinks right after surgery and this is very helpful!! I did buy the same ones you did at Walmart but haven't used them yet. I will save them for post-op and use them then. Great idea and I never thought about using them then. Friday is surgery day!! I hope everything is going well for you and that you heal quickly!!

Congrats on gettine your date. You will find that every Dr. has a different approach. I will strongly say listen to your surgical team. There has been some that didnt follow directives and woke up to find that the sleeve DIDNT happen. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

My post op instructions were 2 weeks liquid which I didn't have any problem with at all. Then 2 weeks of soft (yogurt, cottage, scrambled eggs, etc). It was quite easy...no problems. I agree with everyone who commented that you need to follow your surgeons instructions. Good luck to you!
