    Default Fad Diets

Ok... so I was cleaning out my files and found some of the ridiculous diets I've done in the past. For fun, let's list all the fad diets we've tried in past (of which some did work, but we gained all the weight back as soon as we were off of it). Wow, can't believe I actually thought some of these were good ideas These don't even count the popular ones like HCG, Atkins, South Beach, etc.

    Here goes:

    Grapefruit diet

Miracle soup diet (i.e. cabbage soup diet)

Sacret Heart Hospital Diet for Overweight Heart Patients (summary: 7 day diet in which you ate specific foods - Day 1 - all fruits, except bananas; Day 2 - all veggies, no starches; Day 3 - eat day 1 and day 2 foods; Day 4 - eat up to 8 bananas and 8 glasses of skim milk, you can have the cabbage soup; Days 5-6 - beef and veggies; Day 7 - brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies.

Cleveland Clinic Diet (summary: 3 day diet that must be followed exactly - works on chemical breakdown)

The Atkins Diet. The idea that you could eat a pound of bacon for breakfast and still lose weight. But I'm a carb addict so it didn't stick.

It all started with STUPID Jenny Craig back in the early 90's when I was about 27 years old...I was about 184 lbs then and felt disgusted with myself. I lost 40 lbs but they taught me really NOTHING about keeping it off, it was all about buying their food and portions, which I couldn't do on my own. Of course I gained it all back and more. I tried Weight Watchers without much luck (10 lbs or so). I dieted and exercised like a fiend and lost, only to gain it all back immediately. This is the first time in my life I have MAINTAINED my loss for over a year now! 85 lbs, so exciting (yes, I wanted to lose 100, but I am overjoyed where I am, especially the not gaining it all back!) :-)

Oh, and I wanted to add that Jenny Craig WANTED my goal to be 130 lbs so I never achieved it and felt like a total failure. Look at me at 172...winner winner chicken dinner is all I have to say...screw you Jenny Stupid Craig!

Age 15 I started taking Dexatrim 3 times a day (basically anytime I started to get hungry) mix that with alcohol and the fact the I was 15 and you can about imagine what my poor mother went through! LOL
    Weight Watchers (several times)
    Cabbage Soup Diet
    Atkins (several times)
Pink Diet that was on Dr. Phil
Dr Oz diet (bought the book)
years of taking Xenedrine pills or pills you get from the gym that give you energy. Ya, they gave me energy but I also felt like partying like a rock star to come down so pills and drinking for many years in my 20's-30's.
Once I turned 33 I said NO MORE PILLS! Then once I turned 40 I said NO MORE DIETS! Of course I gained a crap ton of weight and tried a few more diets before my sleeve.

For me, Nutrisystem was the worst offender. Their food is full of sodium, processed unpronounceable stuff, and frankly, not all that good. The bars all have fish oil in them, which I could smell as plain as day. Also, aside perhaps learning portion control and to eat fruits and veggies every day, there's no maintenance plan aside from continuing to buy their food. Which is part of their plan. They don't WANT you to learn to eat normal food; they want to sell you more of theirs!

Oh, and back when I was on Nutrisystem, not all of the foods had an expiration date on them, so there was no way to tell how old they were. GROSSl.
