Default First time to restaurant post-op

We generally go out to et at least once a week. At 11 days post op I felt ready to venture back to our local haunt.
I am amazed how easy it was .... passed on the salad and ordered my favorite pan seared sole with spinach, artichokes and sun dried tomatoes.
Ate about 2 oz of the fish chewing carefully .... hiccuped once (I take this as a sign to stop eating) and was done
To date I have not had any altered taste post op, no nausea, no vomiting or heaving and tolerated everything I have tried. I feel blessed but put much of the ease to the my 6 month preparation pre-op.
I go back to work Monday and feel confident no-one will notice any difference in my eating

WOW! 11 days out an you're eating "real" food! Shows you that all surgeons have differing views on diet, pre and post op. I'm 9 days post op and am on liquid for another 2 weeks and 5 days, but who is counting?! So jealous of you right now!

I am on purée --> soft .... I only ate the fish ... It melts in your mouth .... the rest was left on the plate.
I was clear fluids for 48 hours then full fluids to day 8 .... Now purée and very sloppy/soft for 3 weeks.

Your diet sounds about right. I picked up my doetary guidelines from the surgeon today and it breaks down very similiar....

Phase I: 1-2 days after surgery: clear, sugar-free liquid diet
Phase II: 3 - 14 days after surgery: full liquid diet
Phase III: weeks 3 and 4: Soft diet
Phase IV: week 5: modified regular diet
    Warm regards,

For the first several times I ventured out into the restaurant world, I ordered whatever creamed soup they had or vegetable soup or even chili and had great success. I took it easy and I must say have been one of the very lucky ones in not having any ill effects with throwing up or my sleeve rejected anything I've eaten. God bless my wonderful sleeve!
So happy to hear you're doing so well so soon after surgery. Wishing you all the continued best and being back at work. Live your life as normally as possible and enjoy your new way of relating to all things food.

I really dislike the hiccups.... And yes time to either stop or slow down.
I also had my first social occasion, went to a party for a little fellow turning 1 and I had a bite of cake. It was delicious. Managed to avoid all drinks but did enjoy a cup of tea. All in all didn't do too badly. Joined in with the cake, but left all the rest. Hmmmm a bite of rich choccy mud cake. Bliss.

Sounds great! Fish has become one of my favorite things now. Easy to eat, great protein and definitely goes down! I had similar phases as above. Whitefish and softer fish worked better for me initially. My first foray into Salmon didn't go so well, but it could also have been that I ate a bit too much?

I dont' get any weird signals when I eat but I'm pretty good at identifying when I'm full and I make sure to take small bites and eat slowely. Although when I'm eating with others they're pretty much done well before me. OH well! The thing I have to watch is "force feeding" those last couple of bites since I measure most things out. It seems like I should be able to eat everything, but each meal can be different so I can't be a member of the Clean Plate Club!

Congrats! Sounds like you are doing great! Also, good job listening to your body's cues. They're subtle, and pre-sleeve, I missed mine all the time. It was a sniffle...my nose would begin to run just a little.

So glad your dinner out was a success! That was one of my very favorite things to do and I look forward to getting it back. Good luck to your going back to work. I take it you didn't tell many people about the surgery. I definitely told no one and when I go back I just want to blend in with everyone and still tell know one if I can get away with it. Mainly because I don't want to deal with their opinions. I have a question for you. When you were 1 week post -op did you drink protein shakes or strictly clear liquids?

I went to a restaurant last night for my boyfriends birthday. I had salmon and roasted sweet potatoes. I was able to eat about a fifth of the salmon, chewing until nearly liquid. Had about 3 bites of the sweet potato. When I started sitting up straighter because my sleeve was getting uncomfortable I knew I was done. Will be lunch today though. I get pressure in my chest when its time to quit.
