    Default Weak/No Energy

Surgery was 05-21-13. This past Sat started noticing I was weak and have little energy. I know it's probably the fact that I'm not taking in the required amount of protein-it's hard-I'm getting in what I can. Anyone else having this problem?

I believe everyone has this problem for the first while. You just had major surgery and the fact that you cannot get all protein in, you will be tired. Continue trying to get the protein in. In a short time, your energy will come back and you will start feeling great. Hang in there!

hello, I had surgery on 5/22 and Saturday I felt the same way! the weekend was the hardest. im still really weak I do believe its because we are unable to eat much and its hard to drink a lot of protein. hopefully it will start to go away

I am a lucky one in that I never felt tired or weak, but I also struggled with getting in the protien. Try adding some unflavored protien to some SF jello or to some broth. You can add the unflavored protien to any thing that you are able to get in.

We all went thru this, it does get easier as your new pouch stretches a little. You'll then be able to consume your protein. When I was able to start having soft foods I began with salmon. LOADED with protein and it was super easy on the tum tum. Best of luck

Were you able to find any protein that is truly "unflavored" I've had no luck???

No luck either..trying Chocoalte and/or Peanut butter chocolate fusion-but there getting old. I am looking forward to next Tuesday when I can start doing puréed foods! This is the roughest thing I've ever done in my life. Health wise I know it was what I needed-but right now I wonder..

I got my unflavored protein powder at GNC. They're having a sale right now! :-)

I too bought unflavored Whey Protein from GNC, 24 grams protein per scoop. I added half a scoop to a light n fit greek yogurt to get in my 20 grams of protein per serving. But, I agree, it's not "flavorless", I'm going to try it in a fruit smoothie next. I also agree the protein shakes are getting harder and harder to get down just because they aren't that palatable. I'm currently using the EAS Myoplex Lite. The Atkins protein shakes in dark chocolate royale taste really good and this is what I was drinking 2 x a day before a surgery but they only have 15 grams of protein. I may try to add some of the Whey powder to the Atkins because they taste better but I bought two cases of the EAS Myoplex Lite from Amazon and they aren't cheap so I'm forcing myself to drink all those first!! Good luck to all!!

Yep, that "unflavored" whey protein powder from GNC (in the black and red bag) is AWFUL! I've been using the Lean Shake from GNC. It's much better and thin. I had trouble with thick shakes right after surgery. The only truly unflavored powder I have had was beneprotein that I was given in the hospital. I couldn't taste it at all. It's made by Nestle. But it doesn't have very much protein in it per serving.
