Default 3 weeks post op and a few whew days

hi everyone - i'm 3 weeks post op today in new orleans, la. and had a really great experience considering double hernia surgery at the same time of my sleeve. i had a little trouble getting in all liquids, proteins and vitamins, but not terribly bad. i had no nausea and tummy aches right after surgery. then, i had a brick wall a few days ago. i became very very weak, got a summer cold. headed to my bedroom, no more walking on the treadmill and outings and taking it very easy!

prior to the brick wall, i met w/my nutritionist and up'd my in take to soft fruits w/no added sugar, "their oatmeal (yuck), 50 grams of proteins and all vitamins. i am able to have smoothie king "gladiator" protein smoothie which isn't bad at all w/strawberries and bananas or chocolate which is 45 grams of protein. every week they up my proteins 5 more grams. they aren't real keen on introducing "real foods" too fast. which i guess isn't a bad thing.

it's been a mental trip....and a loss of 14 lbs physically in 3 weeks, so i'm not complaining and do not regret for one moment having the surgery. happy i didn't jump into it, i took my time, did the proper research, had all the proper testing and didn't have the lapband!

i'll be 55 in two weeks and have no desire to put on a bikini and dress like i'm 25. i want to be a healthy 55 year old who can feel GREEEAT!

best of luck to everyone out here who is considering or who has had the sleeve. i still can't believe i did it, but my entire family and friends are so proud and happy for me.

    peace to everyone!

my dad used to say that. He lived to 92 & never lifted anything heavier than a can of beer or a remote control.

At 56 and after this surgery, I feel I have a new lease-on-life. I am going to make the best of it! I am still on pureed food until next week and it really isn't that bad, especially since I am almost never hungry.

I am glad to hear all of you "mature kids" talk about giving yourself a chance. I am 61 and headed for a sleeve next week. I might be the senior member here. I should have made my screen name Grammy or Oldfart.

Good for you, glad you are hearing that you are doing so well. I don't think I ever in my life wore a bikini except maybe as a baby, LOL! I don't ever expect it now. I agree absolutely it is about being a healthy individual wiht less weight and feel happy and healthy. It is inspiring and so informational for those who post for us who just are not quite sure what to expect with surgery, so......keep up the posts and inspirations.

Well at 50, I too have no desire to strut my stuff in a bikini, but I would like the opportunity to wear a lovely once piece with a sarong. I totally get the tiredness that comes over you. I'm one week out and I can barely put one foot in front of the other. I had to have a prescription filled on Sunday and it was a constant dialog in my head "put one foot in front of the other" 4 NYC blocks did me in. But today, although I was feeling I still had no ump. I was able to go to a doctor, and then visit my dear aunt. I was able to walk from the hospital to her house! Feel better with the cold, and here's to us rocking our sleeves.

All time highest weight: 377 lbs.
Sleeved (with some minor complications) June 13th 2011 - I weighed 295 lbs!
Since my surgery I have loss: 85lbs
