Default A perfectionist needs some help.

Hi everyone! I have been lurking for 6 months now (had to do a pre approval) and now I am scheduled, July 5th and ready to go. I start my pre op diet tomo and I am getting a little anxious. I feel like my directions are a little vague. Liquids only. Make sure I get 60 grams protein, 64oz water. Allowed foods...sugar free jello, Popsicles, crystal lt. Does anyone have more specific guidelines? Any sample menus? Thanks!

To get the protein you will need to do broths (chicken/beef), protein shakes (I suggest using muscle milk powder - vanilla creme and adding to smoothies) or you could try GNC's liquid protein shots.

Additionally, Gatorade has a new protein-infused drink - Recover. 16 grams of protein

Be mindful of sugar and carbs in a lot of protein shakes. You really do not need that.

EAS Advantage shakes have 17g of protien and NO sugar. They are great tasting and you can get them from Wally world. I wish you luck!! I'm 3 days post op and things are going good so far!

i'm surprised your doctor or nurse practitioner hasn't given u the exact list of foods you can have for the next month. what you are speaking of is what i had for the first two week plus chicken broth and a tomato/basil soup broth. 15th day i was introduced to more protein, smoothie king "gladiator" smoothie, 1/3 - 1/2 of a small sweet potato and lo cal health choice cream soups. every week to 10 days you u move up the food chain w/fish, chicken, veggie and fruits, etc. please call your physicians assistant and ask for their nutrition list.

congrats and best wishes your way. dena

I am also in Nebraska. Flew to SanDiego and went to TJ Mexico for my surgery. I did 2 full weeks of nothing but liquids. I used the protein shakes from Walmart that were the low carb, low fat, high protein kind. I added a scoop or 2 of plain greek yogurt and blended it. I had 2 or 3 of these daily plus chicken broth. I also chewed no calorie sugar free gum and sucked on hard candy such as life savers. Also drank all of the required water. Gave up my coffee 6 days prior to surgery.
    Good Luck
