Default New to site 5 months postop with problems

Had my surgery the 19th of November and so far am down about 70 pounds, however, I have having problems staying with the program. I cant seem to stop grazing and as a result I am staying the same or losing VERY slowly. I didnt go through all I did for surgery to fail this time, but I feel like I am losing my grasp on this already. Anyone identify?

Please stay focus, ppl like you are the reason I did this. If you fail it might encourage us all to give up. I see you lost major weight...keep it up. The slower the better at least you aren't struggling the first week like ME. U at least LOST 70 that should speak to your heart right there.

I did this with my lapband, Caused a complication and sacrificed my weightloss goals for a taste of foods that I can't even remember now. After living in pain for a few months I quickly realized my eatting habits were costing me more than I wanted to pay. I had to have surery to repair the damage and my doc suggested I convert to a sleeve during the surgery. I agreed and have recommitted to getting the weight off and have given up all the cheating. Reaching my weightloss goals is so much more satisfying than the crap I was eatting. I now have a great opportunity and have committed to not wasting it. You have the same opportunity and sounds like you really want to take advantage of it. Don't sacrifice what you really want for a taste.

not to be a pain and state the obvious, but the surgery and your sleeve is a tool and you just have to use the tool. Go back to basics to help get you back on track. Losing 70 pounds is a great achievement. I ahve not has surgery yet and I will be really happy when I get to say that, but I am one who will graze all day (and not good things either), so I know I will have to constantly keep my head in check after surgery.

Good Luck! Think about all the great things you have done already the next time you are "snacking".

Jessica, Thank you so much for your post. I think I need to print what you said out and post that everywhere at home and at work and in the car. Great words of wisdom. Thanks.

My doctor told me "Im operating on your stomach, NOT your brain. Remember that!" Those words have been really powerful and stuck with thus far! I have to remember to eat with my head NOT my heart/emotions.

Janie, you have done so well, don't mess it up now. In the beginning I used to wanna eat all the time too. What I started doing is when I had the earge to eat I would go for a walk or go on the treadmill. I would recommend you do what someone else has suggested, go back to basics. For one day have only 3 protien shakes and don't forget to exercise. Then the following day go back to eating 3 small meals a day. Best of luck to you! Please don't give up!

I had my surgery December 12th and I had lost 72 pounds so we are very close. I just had my first bout of "emotional eating" where I consumed mass quantities of JUNK for a few weeks. I gained back 6 pounds, and I am so pissed at myself. I know exactly what I need to do, and yet I don't do it. I eat until my stomach hurts. I have had cookies, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, ice cream...and I have started grazing too. I feel terrible about it. I am ABSOLUTELY determined not to fall off the wagon or to fail at this. I am healthier, thinner, and happier than I have been in years. Tomorrow, I am starting a two week pre-op diet again. I went shopping today and got everything thats allowable. My husband is going to do it with me (he is not sleeved and not getting sleeved but for medical reasons needs to lose weight quickly) and I know I can do well with it, because I did awesome the first time. I am hoping this will give me jump start. It can't hurt me...I consider it two weeks of "head medicine" to get me refocused. Everyone keeps saying just keep moving forward so that's what I plan to do. Y'all watch my ticker!!! Hopefully it will begin moving down again !

grazing is the hardest thing avoiding. I have found that if i eat what i should be eating when i am suppose to eat it ( 3 meals a day) then i dont graze as much. kick start your diet again. use myfitnesspal.com
