Another Setback!!!!

So I received a call from my surgeon and he informed me that my biopsy from my Upper GI came back and I tested positive for H. Pylori....What the Hell is that??????? Now, my surgery has been delayed for another two weeks until I have been treated for this infection in my stomach. I am starting to rethink my decision to have this surgery because of all the challenges and issues I am facing. Am I the only one having so many issues?????

Please don't give up. Hpylori is just a bacteria in your stomach that causes ulcers. They will prob subscribe you something like Bactrim. Will be ok. It's awesome they tested for this because it could make your recovery a lot worse.

It is not a big deal except if they do not treat it for it can cause complications. Be thankful they did test for this and you are being treated for it. It is a good thing to have this delay.

Good Morning Crystal,
I had the very same infection several weeks ago. My dr. prescribed antibotics and everything is fine. I just receieved my surgery date on Friday, scheduled for 5/3/13. I think you should still have the surgery.. great health is better, than a unhealthly body! Good Luck!

I try to look at this all in a good way. With out this surgery and prepairing for it you would have never been tested for it and may have had more complations down the road from having it. I just had that test done too and was told if it comes back positive they would just give me some antibiotics. I take all this testing and preping for surgery as a good thing... You need more blood work Doc? Sure no problem! Check me out head to toe please!! lol

I have found out more about my body and what its lacking taking a few tests while on this sleeve quest then I have ever with my regular doctor. In fact I now know what was wrong with my immune system last year when my regular doctor told me its a mystery really doc?

So I see all these "set backs" as blessings.

I was diagnosed with the same thing and its better to be tested for everything under the sun then to have your recovery struggle.. It will be well worth it in the end... Keep positive!!!

I had this issue come up as well before my lap band surgery and had to postpone in order to take antibiotics for 15 days. It's a good thing it was caught now as opposed to after surgery. Yes, it's discouraging but not to the point where you decide to give up and throw in the towel. Just know that this too shall pass and you will be on your way. Hang in there and don't get discouraged, become more determined~~

Gawd every step forward I take, I take two steps back, it's been a terrible struggle to get the appointments made and now an abnormal heart I have to give ekg to cardiologist and see if it will be a problem with surgery. And I have to take the antibiotics for the H. Pylori as well just in case, cause when I had an EGD previously this year for something else they didn't test for that. It will take me all August to get all the appts done and then the doctors are about a month behind in appts for surgery, so that makes me end of sept or october, oh well, it will be cooler then, one blessing. thank God.

Everything happends for a reason. You may not know the reason now or even later on but it may be for the best. Hang in there!

On Fridy, I received a phone call that I have an abnormal EKG & I have to go today to a cardiologist. My surgery is tomorrow! I am freaking out & it's so hard not to be stressed over teh whole deal. I just pray that everything is ok with my heart & we can still proceed with everything. I have been reading a lot that abnormal EKGs are pretty common. Thoughts on this anyone?

i had an abnormal ekg too, the case worker said might not mean that I can't get surgery, depends what it is. So guess we both find out soon.
