    Default Confessional - Scared.

I am 2weeks post op and I have lost 20 lbs. I am very happy with my weightloss. But I am very scared because I have not lost any weight in the last week. I am on a the full liquid untill Tuesday. Here comes the confessional I have been having little bites of regular food here and there. Is this messing up my weightloss? I am only having between 400 and 600 calories a day. I am also walking on the treadmill 30 minutes a day and burning about 250 calories doing that. I am scared I am not going to loose anymore weight. Can anyone help ease my fears?

You can confess to us The reason they want you to phase food in is because your tummy is still healing. They want to avoid any chance of infection or trauma to your newly changed stomach. I would hold off on solids until you get permission. You have the rest of your life to eat solids!! I know it seems like forever but trust me - it will be worth it. For the weight loss concern, I highly doubt the few bites of solid foods are causing your stall. You will go through many stalls in this process. Your body has just been shocked and it has to learn how to use / store nutrients again. Don't weigh yourself every day - you will go nuts. Hang in there...lots of water!!

I hit my first stall at the second week. Then bam, scale moved again. I tend to hold steady for 4 - 5 days, then drop a few pounds and repeat.

Don't freak out, it's all very normal. A lot of folks have their first stall around the 3rd week. You're definitely not eating enough to gain any 'real' weight and are likely losing around your body. The scale will catch up. It's frustrating, but it will catch up!

    Starting weight for lap-band = 252
    miserable 5 years later
Starting weight for VSG = 229
    Pre-op weight = 219

This is very normal!! I stalled at two weeks post op and it lasted for 2 whole weeks! I than continued (and still do) stall every few weeks, but I am now only 10 pounds from my goal weight & only 3 pounds from my surgeons goal for me. Don't stress, if you eat your protein and get plenty of fluids you will loose. Try to avoid carbs, but it is okay to indulge in small amounts on occasion. Try to enjoy those times that are important like holidays and special occasions. We are trying to learn how to be healthy & even healthy folks enjoy carbs and desert on occasion.

I remember that feeling so well. But DON"T worry. Just follow your instructions and you will lose. I am always thinking I won't lose any more weight and got on the scale this morning to discover I had lost 3 pounds! Just stick to it! Good Luck!
