    Default Food waster!

Two days now and I'm still struggling with portions. Not with the eating of them, but rather preparing them.

It's like I eat till I'm full but I usually have half to two-thirds of my plate left. So I throw it out, but the anguish of not cleaning the plate is strong! MOM! What did you do to me?!?

I wonder if I can buy EVEN SMALLER plates and mini pans for cooking.

I still use dessert plates for all my meals. I hate seeing my tiny portions on a full sized dinner plate.

The joke is that I *am* using dessert plates! I think I need doll-dishes.

Good point. When I was as early out as you I ate right from measuring cups and soup from mugs. I was eating out of a 1/4 and 1/2 cup. I don't think I went back to plates until about 3 weeks post op.

it does get a little better once you can eat what your family is eating...

Even now for me I can use a large dinner plate...have a piece or two of meat and have left overs and it doesnt phase me anymore...my dogs actually have learned to LOVE dinner time with me because they know they are going to get a few bites of meat from my plate :-)

I believe I will struggle with seeing left over food for a very long time. It was really tough when we went away for the kids Spring Break last week. I have never seen so many take hom boxes in my life. I think my dad used to talk about the starving areminians or something like that when I was a kid

On the flight back from my surgery, my husband didn't like a sandwich he got at the airport. Normally, I would have ate it instead of throwing it away.

My new normal is that I'm not a garbage disposal and its OK to feel hunger, nothing horrible will happen. I'm 6 days post op

I use a sandwich plate with a small circle in the middle and I use that as my guide then I save the rest and have it at another meal.

I have a 1 year old grandson that eats more then I do. I have had no luck with food at all...thank goodness for pudding...nuts..beef jerky...and sometimes eggs when I can tolerate 1... I'm still on 2 shakes a day...tried 1 but couldn't get the protein in..so back to 2 I went. I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks and am a lil worried...I take a lot of supplements every morning.

It is hard to walk away from food. The "Clean Your Plate Club" has damaged us and left deep scars. My kids are allowed to leave food behind! It takes a while to re-train your brain from a lifetime of bad habits and big portions. I'm almost 11 months out and I am just really learning to be consistent with my portions. I am learning exactly what I can eat. Almost 100 lbs down and MOTIVATED! Hang in there! You'll get the hang of it

I use a three sectioned toddler plate most of the time. The largest section is for the meat, then the two smaller for, like, 1/2 corn on the cob and cranberry sauce. It works for me.
