Default B12 shot or nasal spray

I was sleeved on June 1 and just had my first check-up with my surgeon...everything's going great! Along with some vitamins I'm also to take B12. They offered either a monthly shot or a nasal spray once a week. I opted for the spray. My pharmacy had to order it and called later to let me know that my insurance won't cover it and it's over $300. Yikes!! I'm real curious to hear what is everyone else is doing.

    Thanks!
    Cindy

I haven't been sleeved yet (coming up in about 3 months though!!!), but the way I've always taken B-12 is in a sublingual pill. You can get them at any general pharmacy or even Wal*Mart and they are super tiny. I use cherry flavored B-12 and it's very easy to use since the tablet is so small. It's cheap too!

I also took B-12 sublingual. No problems, inexpensive and easy to find at the pharmacy.

That's crazy expensive. You could by a lifetime supply of B12 sub-lingual for the cost of a couple shots of it! Take the sub-lingual!

Thanks y'all!! I can't swallow pills until 3 months out, but can you chew these? I read something about keeping them under your tongue until they dissolve. Right now I'm crushing pills and opening capsules. Looking forward to September!

Yes. Subligual goes under your young and melts. Not bad tasting either.

Yup, it doesn't taste bad at all... just melts away. It's a breeze. I take mine in the morning as I'm making my lunch for the day. It's gone in about 2 minutes

I'm fine with a shot, but I don't want to have to pay for a dr. visit to get one. My surgeon's two hours away so I would have to go to my family doc. I spoke with my pharmacist, and he recommended getting a prescription for the liquid injectable B-12 ($11.99) and have someone give it to me. Luckily I have a niece who is a nurse. I still like the idea of a pill though.

I took the pills as well and then became severely deficient and lost feeling in my hands and feet. I now get the shot once a month, but have been thinking about switching to the nasal spray. I am not sure which is more convenient at this point.
