So I had surgery on Monday 3/25 and I woke up in recovery thinking, "what in the hell did I just do". There was no nausea do to me telling everyone who would listen that I needed the patch, pill and anything in between. So I never experienced nausea. I was up and walking within 4-5 hours after surgery. Both of my kids were C-sections, so I would definitely compare the pain of the surgery to that. I was anticipating on going home the following day, however my body had different plans. I was put on oxygen because I needed help breathing, and I had to do an additional gross swallow for a cat scan that my Dr ordered. He was concerned about my white blood cells, which were too high and my heart rate, which was much to high also. Thank God everything checked out excellent. Dr Smith came to my room and explained to me that most of my problems and discomfort came from the hiatal hernia he repaired and that there was a little bit of fluid underneath it. Needless to say, when I was discharged I craved lemon heads. Not the new fruity chewy flavors, but the original hard lemon heads. And yes I have been sucking on them. It's really hard to get all the fluids down and I'm actually taking a sip of Isopure in rotation with water every 15 minutes. My nurses had me poor a medicine cap full and just drink it out of that. It really does help. I'm walking upstairs and all through the house every hour also. I do remember having gas and rumbling sounds in my stomach the first 3 days, and after that I was able to have a bowel movement and pass gas. But I will say, coming home in my own space and seeing my entire family has made a great impact on how I feel. Everyone is waiting on me hand and foot, but I'm trying to do a lot on my own. My follow up appointment is tomorrow so I'm hoping I can start a liquid diet, instead of just clear liquids. Which while I was in the hospital it consist of water and crystal light only. And to top everything off, my husband cooked homemade chicken noodle soup and the entire family ate soup with me. I only ate the broth from the soup but it was so good. And if that wasn't enough to bring tears to my eyes, when I walked into my bathroom for the first time sense coming home. My husband had the entire bath tub filled with bath and body works and candles. That really made my day. Anyways, I'm a little tired and need to get some rest but if any upcoming sleevers need to ask me any questions and I am able to help just let me know and I will be glad to help if I can.
