I am 9.5 months out and am still around 4 oz for the most part. I would guess that 1-2 years sounds about right, but isn't necessarily the case for everyone. It likely depends whether or not you push to stretch your sleeve some over time. I try not to push it and honestly am fine if I am not able to eat double my current portions. I am full, so who cares?! I'd rather not risk re-gaining weight over time, just so I can have increased portions. I don't think it's something you should be overly concerned about, especially so early on. You need to use this time to "get your head right" and not obsessing over old habits (how to eat more). It's hard in the beginning, but as time goes by, this becomes your new normal. You'll get there, just hang on
I'm 100 days out and can eat a 6-8 ounce meal, like a Lean Cuisine is no problem. If you go to pure protein, it gets full at 6 ounces with softer stuff I feel like I can go past 8 ounces because there is no full sense but I stop since I know it's enough and I'm not hungry. I am almost 6' tall and had a slightly larger Bougie -- 36FR -- so maybe that's why I have this capacity, not sure. I eat more than I thought I could/would but I'm also very active so I'm down 66# and am 34# from goal in 100 days so I will take that, even though I know it's going to be slower now.
I'm about 19 months out and cannot eat an entire Kid's Meal. I usually share one with my 4 year old granddaughter (not including the drink). Like, One chicken strip and half the fries. Some days I can eat more than others.
I am not quite 3 months out and have been able to eat 6-8 oz for at least a month, probably six weeks. My bougie is a 34 but I don't think that makes much difference because there are people on here with a 40 or 42 who can only eat a few ounces at a time. Taller people have longer stomachs and often greater capacity- I am 5'7". My stomach capacity does not seem to have slowed my loss. I don't always eat until I am full, I just make sure I make my protein requirements.
It depends on what I am trying to eat. I can only eat about 2-4 ounces of chicken. I can eat two tacos with out the lettuce, crunchy taco not soft, for some reason the soft tortillas do not sit as well as the crunchy ones. I can eat about 6 ounces of beef vegetable soup or chili. I can eat about 6 ounces of grilled shrimp. I can eat almost a whole cup of red beans. So it really depends on what I am eating as to how much my tummy will hold.
Thanks for your reply. I am also 5'7-5'8 my bougie was a 34 as well. I am curious as to know if my capacity will be similar to yours. My stomach was huge by the way. I went with a group of 3 and I was the lightest of the group yet I had the largest and longest if the stomachs. Crazy.
