I Had a little scare....

Ok, so I was feeling really depressed because 2 weeks ago I went to my doctor for my checkup and when i stepped on the scale it said 280lbs. I was surprised because last time i weighed myself i was like 250lbs. So i couldn't figure out how I gained so much weight over such a short period of time. I know I was slacking but WOW. So pretty much for the whole week I was walking around depressed because I thought I gained a lot of weight. Long story short I just bought a new scale a couple days ago to track my progress and when I got on it, it said 260lbs...wow what a relief, so I do believe that means the scale at the dr. office is broke. OK changing subjects, so 12 more days until my surgery, I have been doing my liquid diet faithfully, I want everything to go smoothly with this! The diet consist of 2 protein drinks 1 for breakfast and 1 for lunch and salad for dinner. This was hard for me because I would still be hungry. So I started taking these appetite suppressants to help me with my liquid diet. Is that safe to do? Did you take any diet pills to help with you all liquid diet pre-op?

I have surgery in 3 days and have been on preop diet for the last 11....doctor provided liquid protein only. I was told and have read NO diet drugs at all because they can adversely affect your liver which is 100% the reason you do preop diet at all. You need your liver to be as reduced and healthy as possible before surgery for the surgery to be as safe, smooth and easy as possible. I would say its a no no no! Its less about getting the weight off quickly than prepping your liver for the surgery.

My pre op liquid diet packet says stop all meds in 10 days to surgery. So idk you might want to ask your dr.. I wish I could have a salad a day with my liquid diet im not to have nothing but liquids for 10 days because my bmi is 45.6 it was higher but i have lost some wheight since feb.

Because I have stacked on some weight I thought I would do the shake/salad diet just like the pre-op diet to ease myself into a changed way of eating.
So far I've had 1 Celebrity Slim Banana Shake - not too bad at all which is a huge relief.
I would be concerned about adding anything other than what is on the sheet without first consulting the Dr's office. The purpose is to shrink the liver and until you can clarify what those pills do to your liver - you may be dieting on one hand and then undoing all that good work by popping those pills.
I certainly understand why you'd look at that option, but the pre-op diet as I understand is less about food intake and more about the impact on the organs and using up the stores of glycogen.

I did some grilled chicken with my night time salad. The extra protein helps to make it more doable. Good luck!

ok i will stop taking the pills, they keep me awake and make me feel on edge. i do have alot more energy but i will wait until i get sleeved to see how i do. thanks guys
