No cravings?

I was told that the sleeve helps eliminate cravings because the part of the stomach being removed contains the enzymes that cause cravings. So not only are you eating way less but you aren't feeling deprived of your favorite foods. Is this true? Looking for some experiences from people who have been sleeved.

well i think its true, food doesn't interest me at all anymore.. someone new what they were talking about when they said eat to live, and not live to eat..maybe its because that hormone is cut out. my down fall was sweets now even crystal light and protein drinks i can't do anymore they are just way to sweet.. makes me sick right now just thinking about them lol....not everyone is alike but for me food is just boring, can't even think of anything that sounds good.

Cravings are mental... and there's no way to remove them. True, you may not crave anything in the beginning, or even for awhile, but you will again. karensuue, I think you're talking more about taste..your taste preferences have changed (which is common).

What you're referring to is the ghrelin, or the "hunger hormone". The part of your stomach that has ghrelin is removed, or most of it, and this is why you don't experience real hunger after surgery (this usually returned after 6-12 months, apparently).
