Cravings????

I'm getting reading to have surgery on March 19th. I was wondering how may of you out there still have cravings for the bad stuff and if so are they as strong as they were prior to surgery.

I'm really worried about gaining my weight back and also concerned about having the surgery and being tormented about wanting food I can't have.

Im only 1 week out and so far I have been ok, it seems at night that I have desired to chew on something, I've read that some say it goes away, especially when you are busy. I have not felt hungary really just having to wk on the old habit to eat.

The surgery does take the hunger away for most of us, but does little for the cravings. The good thing is if you do give in to a craving it only takes a bite or 2 to satisfy it. The sleeve is only a tool but it works real well as long as you work it. At Christmas my daughter baked my favorite cookies and I was satisfied with just one instead of a dozen or more. We do have to learn to eat healthy foods and limit the not so healthy foods. You don't have to totally deprive yourself of anything you love for the rest of your life, just learn moderation. The sleeve really helps with that.

That's right, you can still eat things you like, just in moderation after the sleeve...I've been craving Colby cheese. I bought me a chunk of it and ate a piece about 1"x1" and was satisfied: before the sleeve i would have eaten the whole thing... That's how it works...

I have cravings every now and then but it's not like it used to be. I will try and wait it out for a day if I still want it then I have a bite or 2 .......amazing how little will go a long way!!!

Thanks ya'll. I guess after you diet so much and lose and gain, lose and gain....I'm worried about failing again.

I'm 9 months out now, and cravings seem to be getting stronger. When I want something, I WANT it. Whether it's something healthy like shrimp, or a salad, or something crunchy like pretzels, or even chocolate. It does seem to go in waves, though. The sleeve is not going to remove your cravings, as that's mental.

Thanks for your post. I will be having surgery in two weeks. I weigh 210 and want to get down to 135 or so. Was your beginning weight 186 and you are 125 now??? Seeing your post has inspired me as I have lost the same 5-10 pounds over and over again. Keep up the good work and hope to hear back from you!
