Cool Are you saving old clothes from your skinny days?

This spawned out of the thread that Jill started.

Do you have any old clothes from times when you were thinner? Are you saving them for when you are thin again? Are they terribly out of style? Laughably so? What are they?

I have a denim jacket from college that I swear to god I'll fit into again one day. My wife has attempted to throw it out numerous times, but I will *totally* fit in that thing one...more...time. It has a lot of patches from bands in the 80's on it. Mortifying!

I have the dress I wore on my first date with my husband. It isn't nearly at my goal weight, but it is definitely not where I am now....It was the bridesmaid dress from my brother's wedding--a period wedding from the civil war. One of my goals is to fit into that dress again and to be able to go to one more Civil War reenactment with my hubby and dance with him again......but definitely out of style!!!!

Absolutely. I have my first "interview" suit that my father bought me when I was in college. I aslo have a set of my fraternity letters that I would love to put on and not have them look like spandex. You know the retro thing is quite popular now. If the 80's bands are Wham! and the culture club it might not go so well.....

I have a box of clothes that are so nice I couldn't part with them knowing....someday....I would fit back in to them. They are a mix of a couple of sizes less than I am now and I am thinking they will get me through the spring. Once they are too big, I am more than happy to say adios!!

I doubt wearing "Healthtex" clothes would be appropriate at the age of 41...lol

(Which is the last time I was ever called "skinny)!

I have moved so often that too small clothes were always pitched. The only thing I have are two formal gowns that are way too huge on me. I am waiting till I get to goal weight, or at at least until my 1 year anniversary, to have them altered. They are too gorgeous not to wear but I refuse to alter them more than once as I already altered on before. I sing in these gowns. Other than that I got nothing. Oh, I have a gorgeous dress from Kenya my students gave me when I taught at a conference and I need to make that tons smaller too.

Of course! I kept many of my "thin" clothes (from the early 80's) up until a few years ago. I finally parted with most of them. I could NOT part with my waist length denim jacket with white leather fringes hanging from the sleeves! LOL I even had boots and a purse to match the white leather! I do have smaller clothes that I kept when I got bigger hoping I'd fit into them again. Well, it looks like I will be wearing them again this summer! Even if they are a bit big, I'm wearing them anyway. Need to save money for the new wardrobe!

Heck YES!!!! I have the dress that my senior pictures were taken in. That was 1984!!!! Size 4, back then it was really expensive $94 on sale at Belk's!!!! That's probably how I got to purchase a size 4 to begin with!!!! But my sister makes fun of me saying even IF you could wear it WHY would you? She's it looks like a dang Easter egg lol!!!! It's a very pale pure and very pale pink with a sash to tie around my tiny waist at the time!!!!! Love your post its making me laugh on this death afternoon in North Carolina!!!!

I have all my old jeans from way back when. I am wearing them today as a matter a fact. I call it shopping in my own closet. I love it but I am about out of all my skinny clothes and will have to go shopping soon.

As long as your jacket has a patch from Bon Jovi on it - you are good to go!

No I don't have any clothes old, I finally (maybe 2-3 years ago) pitched a pair of jeans from high school that I swore I would get into.

No, I throw away everything that isn't useful. I hate clutter and stuffed closets. As soon as it no longer fits it is out the door to Goodwill. And beyond that who wants to save their polyester leisure suits from the 70's.

I have my 70s disco clothes, and a flapper dress I wore on stage for a HS production of "Mame". Oh, you mean regular clothes. I have a few pieces, mostly silk blouses and skirts and...things... because I hate to throw out anything that pricey....
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.

Oh man. Just about 2-3 years ago, I went through my closet and gave away all my old "skinny" clothes. Every 6 months I would do that with me kids, so I had decided it was time to do it for me too. After surgery, I started to feel bad about all of the clothes I "could" have worn, but they would have only lasted a few months. I FOR SURE didn't have anything left the size I am now! LOL I a currenlty a size 6 and S-M tops! Haven't seen these sizes in probably 20 years! In high school, I wore an 8-10, but sizes are so different now. Even when I get to my goal weight, my body shape is so different now, (4 kids will do that to you!) I don't think my old jeans would fit the way I like them.
