Just checking in at the 6 month mark

Hello Fellow Sleevers!:

Had my six month (to the day) appointment today and I am down 55 lbs since surgery in September! Now rocking XL, Large, size 16's and 18 in jeans, when I was in a 24 and SQUEEZING into a 24 at that when I went in for my sleeve, Also completed another 5K on Superbowl Sunday and raced my fastest time ever! I was right where I hoped I'd be at this check up, and the doctor said I looked great, and was doing well at this pace. He said this pace, I'm losing slowly and consistently, and that is an indication that I will be more likely to keep it off. I never thought of it that way, so it was good to hear and very encouraging. Hope all is well with my sleeve "brothers and sisters" Updating picture in a few...

Your story is so inspirational to me! I am losing more slowly than many of the others that had surgery around the same time. I am happy with my progress, and I hope that your doc is right that if we lose slowly we will keep it off. That is a happy thought!

We are so hard on ourselves, Julie! My mom put things in perspective for me when she said to me the other day: how does it feel to have to lose what you have lost after trying and failing over 16 years? In 5 months, with minimal exercise and wayyy better eating habits and portion control, I have lost more than 10 pounds a month, and counting. Not too shabby at all, and I am VERY happy with that. I don't compare myself to anyone else. I'm just happy that I haven't lost my curves, or my hair (hair actually LONGER) and nothing is sagging to the floor. Just wait until the running season starts and I REALLY kick up my workouts...won't be able to tell me a thing then, LOL!

Good job. That is all great news. I liked what you said about not comparing yourself to others. That is really good advice.
