    Default sleeve and pcos

I have pcos and insulin resistance...
I want to get the sleeve to help resolve my health issues...

I do have fertility issues because of my weight...

Will the sleeve help with pcos/fertility/insulin resistance?

    I would love some feedback...

Plus, I'm new to the site and I just wanted to say Hello!!

    thx

It will help you lose weight which will help with the pcos. My endocrinologists said even a 10 lb loss could change my ability to get pregnant. I was not trying to get pregnant but rather he was warning me it might happen if I did not consider the physical changes in my body.

My daughter's pcos seems to be under better control. Her facial hair isn't as thick or tough. She is not trying to get pregnant so not sure if that is okay but all in all she feels much better. Her weight is stable now and her other hormones seem to be in good control as well.

Welcome to the site I have a friend who had both diabetes and fertility problems. After she had a sleeve she is now no longer on pills and she is expecting in July I dont know if that helps as everyone is different. But I wish you all the best

Welcome to the site. I'm sure someone here can help you with your specific questions. Though I do know that losing weight and regaining health often "cures" many ailments that we all develop due to our weight issues.

I also have PCOS with insulin resistance plus diabetes and hypothyroidism, which can all benefit greatly from any weight loss. The weight hasn't come off nearly as fast for me as it has for some people, but it was coming off. At least until I ended up on prednisone in early August for pulmonary inflammation. That stopped my weight loss cold until just recently. I'm still trying to get the hormones back in balance, and it's been frustrating, but I do not regret getting the sleeve at all. The restriction is fantastic and I'm sure that if I had been on the prednisone without the sleeve, I would have gained a bunch of weight instead of staying steady, so I'm definitely not complaining.

Regarding getting pregnant, the surgeons do advise waiting a year or so after the surgery, so if you do lose weight pretty quickly, your problem might be trying not to get pregnant too soon .
I may be a SLOW loser, but I'm still a loser!!

Just wanted to throw out there that I didn't have a period for a year and it was sporadic before that due to PCOS. After surgery, within two weeks, I had a period.

I have had a regular cycle without meds since surgery so I know I am ovulating. My husband had a vasectomy and I am not looking for more kids. I still lose very slowly compared to many on this forum and I exercise hard constantly . I wish I had the surgery a long time ago!

Glad to see this post. I also have PCOS. I have one child that took us a LONG time to conceive. Definitely want more kids, and am hoping that the sleeve will help me get the PCOS under control. I have tried everything else, and seem to be able to lose weight with a great deal of effort, but keeping the weight off and getting under a certain weight are my issues. Metformin helps some with the insulin resistance, and BCPs help with the PCOS symptoms, but I feel like they're both just masking the symptoms of the problem, when what I really want is to get the problem under control!
