Insurance will pay!!!! Yay!!!

I just got off the phone with my insurance company. (United Health Care) They will cover the whole thing except that I will have to pay 295/day for hospitalization. EVERYTHING else is covered!!! I'm finding this almost impossible to believe! This looks like it's really going to happen!

I had a $2500 deductible, plus 25% (up to $5k max out of pocket).

That's great news! Good for you! I have United Healthcare/Oxford also, are they requiring 6 months of dietician visits?

I did, didn't I! I just hope she knew what she was talking about. Thanks Dale ..I wonder, has anyone else here paid what I will be paying?
I just have to make sure that it's in the network and that they accept that insurance. One other big deal is that my Dr. (primary) is leaving the practice in Feb. and I need to get him to do all the documenting so that whoever takes over can help me through it. Geez, what if I get some ass who thinks that WLS is for weak willed...and won't support it...

I dont think so HoneyBee,she didn't mention that. Just that I need to have failed at documented attempts in the past. God I hope not. That would just crush me! For all the years and diets I have been on, I AM a dietician!!!

That is great news. I have only had to pay about $500 so far. I will have a little extra for nutritionist visits of about $25 each in the future but I really happy that my insurance covered so much. I could never have afforded to have to go to Mexico for surgery never the less self paid here. Good luck it really is going to happen!

Do you also have United? I'm with you, I really didn't want to drain the only emergency fund we have, even though my husband would have supported it for me. For those of us lucky enough to be married to supportive people (or have them in our lives, not necessarily married, (my bad) ) I thank the Universe for such a wonderful man!

LOL! I am a dietician too for that matter! I hope you dont and am very happy for you. Good luck. Dont get discouraged if they do make you jump through some hoops. I had to go to the Pulminologist and Gastroenterologist, in fact I am having an ultrasound tomorrow after meeting with the dietician. The appts are eating up my PTO's but the end result will be a healthier me!
