Hi 50 lbs down today

I just got back from spending several days at my M-I-L's house and seeing my family as well (they live 15 minutes from each other). I could tell that I'd lost while I was down there, even though I was eating Christmas cookies, but didn't have an available scale. To my surprise, I'd lost another three pounds. I am now officially 50 lbs lighter than my pre-surgery weight.

This surgery has made me a believer. I'll post before and after pics when I get a chance.

My family doesn't know and they keep asking me what I am doing. I have to tell the truth: I'm eating far less food. I haven't changed *what* I eat, just the amounts of it. That might not work for many of the people on this forum, but it sure does for me.

Honestly, if I stopped losing right now I would still consider this a 100% success. I've always held my weight very well - I'm pretty muscular and nobody ever expected that I was almost 300lbs - but losing the fat off my frame still lets me have muscles and be a big guy without being an enormously fat guy.

Being almost two months out from surgery makes this even better. My stomach feels great most of the time, and I am finding that I don't miss large amounts of food nearly as much as I did a month ago. This is a great life-changing event.

If you're reading this and haven't yet decided for the surgery, I'm saying to go for it. No regrets.

Thanks for the pictures, you really can see the difference and you must have so much more energy, not carrying that extra load with you. How wonderful that this surgery gives us chance to make this sort of weight loss sustainable in the long term. Thanks Matt.

Great job! I'm a month behind you and down 34# now but would be thrilled to be down another 16# in 26 more days. Not sure if I will get there. It looks like you are doing great! Any GERD or reflux? That's my only issue.

Nope, no reflux at all.last week I had some problem with foamies but they've disappeared. Things are awesome with this thing.
