    Unhappy Hair loss

4 months out and I've started to lose my hair.. actually I'm losing a lot of hair.. What can I do? I'm taking a multi vitamin my doc suggested. I'm also taking calcium and flaxseed omega 3 & 6.. and then I get a Vit B Complex and Vit B12 injection once a month... What else can I do? Its coming out in bushes.. my clothes are always full of hair.. driving me nuts.. HELP!!! All suggestions are welcome.

Add Biotin to your regimen, and know that it WILL grow back. Don't panic - keep up your protein intake and follow your rules. It won't last forever

I am having the same problem. My doctor gave me over the counter Biotin 5000 mg it is a pill I take it once a day. I have only been on it for about two weeks and the course of my hair has changed it was fine like now something is starting to happen. I have to take it for three months. it was like 15 dollars at the drug store. I will let you know what the outcome is in the future.

Biotin...it does help. My hair fell out in clumps from 3-6 months, then it slowed. The biotin might not help with the actual loss, but it does help with the regrowth.

There is also a shampoo called Nioxin that is supposed to help.

Take Biotin --- I started losing hair around the 4th month and it lasted until around the 7th month or so. It eventually slowed down and boy did I lose a lot of hair. I use to have a hard time putting a ponytail holder around 2 times now I can do it 3 times. ugh! One good thing is it eventually will grow back. I have all these little hairs all over my head growing back. I use hair spray to push them down so they aren't seen as much.
Best of Luck but hair loss is just one of the side effects. Don't stress over it (easier said than done I cried in the shower many of days and globs of my hair fell out).

So is the three month mark when people seem to start losing hair? I am 10 days post op and I was curious because my hair seems strong. Tips to avoid hair loss anyone? Or do you think it's inevitable? Three months puts me in mid-March. I have very long, curly hair and I was thinking I might get it cut short so at least the curl will give it more volume.

I am two months out and always loose lots of hair during the winter, but this year it is more. I am starting biotin this morning, plus I am not washing my hair everyday -- lots of conditioner to help the hair that is there. Am also looking for a shorter cut later this spring!

I'm only about 4 weeks since my surgery, but I have read and heard that protein is the best way to keep it at a minimum. I'm hoping thats correct, because i'm tracking my protein and added biotin, just in case!! good luck!

I have seen a lot of posts about this and it seems that the common patterns of advice are 1) eat as much protein as you can (your hair is made up of protein), 2) take biotin and 3) use the most expensive shampoo you can afford (I use Aveda and it has protein in it).

Here is a helpful link that someone else posted in another one of these threads that has a lot of information about WHY we lose our hair, etc: Hair Loss After Gastric Bypass: Tips For Losing Less And Regrowing More Faster

Also, here is Dr Alvarez Q&A video about hair loss:

    Hope these help!

Biotin chewables are cheap at Walmart. I say around six dollars. And there's a leave in hair moisturizer at Walmart in the African American hair products that is white and creamy looking that helps thicken your hair also. I haven't had surgery yet and my hair isreally fine, so I'm taking prenatal vitamins now and using the moisturize and noticed s big difference. I'll start biotin after surgery instead of prenatal.

My beautician started using Noxin. It dries your hair out, but the loss slowed down & stopped all together shortly thereafter...good luck!
