It's a bad idea, sorry.... and I pretty much promise if you do you'll regret it.
Picture a test tube, with a tiny funnel at the bottom. Ok, that's your sleeve.
Now, you pour soda down into it. The liquid sinks to the bottom, very slowly dripping into your intestines and the bubbles foam ....UP....
If you really, really gotta have a taste, at least let it go flat first. Or, you can do the sip and spit routine. Taste it, since that's what you really want...swish it around and just spit it out. You wouldn't be the first.
Most of us can sip a little soda after a while.
Do bear in mind that caffeine and sf sweeteners with also both increase your appetite.
Not trying to be a total buzz kill, but I did try ginger ale at about 7 wks out and it came right back up....and tasted nasty, too sweet.

I know how you feel. I get cravings for ginger ale and the past 2 days, Dr. Pepper. Forever is a mighty long time.

I can on occasion enjoy a few sips of ginger ale or sprite. To be honest sometimes those bubbles help my upset belly. I did take a large drink of sprite several times at a bar last night and the rumble in my stomach went on for well over an hour. I just wouldn't over do it.

The other day my daughter and I were out shopping and I was getting thrusty so my daughter bought a diet coke without thinking that I really shouldn't have it at least not yet. I have never been a big soda person but I had a few sips and it didn't taste good at all and tasted flat. It didn't bother me but didn't help my thrust either. First chance I got a bottle of water so much more refreshing. If you just have to have it let it go flat so it doesn't bother your sleeve.

NOT worth it. Soda has NOTHING redeeming about it. Well, okay, it does please the tongue but NOTHING ELSE!!

I was on a plane from Chicago to Honolulu a couple of weeks ago and just plain sick of water. I have not had a diet Coke since starting the program in April. I ordered one and I had no physical problem but it tasted awful. I did a club soda instead and drank the entire can over ice and had no issues whatsoever. I have not had one since and don't plan in it. But the winds were not in our favor and it was over a 10 hour flight.

I was told by my doctor that the carbonated drinks will stretch your pouch. I was never a big coke drinker so it doesn't bother me but i would advise against it girl.

I was a DIET COKE a d d i c t, then gave that up and went to DIET GINGER ALE. Since being seeved I have tried a few sips of each. It hurt and it tasted horrible. Oh well...I am lucky, I guess. I had a UROLOGIST tell me once, "If you never want to see me again...STOP drinking Diet Coke or any other soda that is brown." heehee!

I know exactly what you mean. I had my surgery on 9/20 and hadn't had a diet pepsi until about 2 weeks ago. I only had a little bit and I've only done it once more since then but it tasted sooooooo good. I wouldn't do it every day, maybe once in awhile and only little bits at a time. I know I'm not supposed to but I felt ok afterward. A little guilty, but ok.

I doubt you'd like it. Go ahead and try it to get the craving out of your system. It's not going to kill you. Our tastes are different after surgery.
