    Default Gained 20 pounds

    After going through a summer long deep depression I have just realized how much weight I've put on. 20 pounds to be exact. I've gone waaaaay off the post-op path that I'm kicking myself for undoing all of the hard work I put it. Before summer started I was 178...I am now 204 and had my surgery May of 2011. So...I'm starting fresh today and going back to basics with the 5 day pouch test.
    Anyone else have trouble staying on track?

    This is where the psych portion just has to come into play. If there is someone you can talk to who can help you discover what's up? And if it's sugar that's got you hooked, they can even help you figure out how to kick the habit. Otherwise, just be kind to yourself. If you just beat yourself up, you'll be less likely to love yourself enough to restart your success story.... hugs

    I fall off the wagon all the time, gain 2-3 pounds, then start fresh again. It is hard to stay positive and on track all of the time. Thank goodness I've not completely fallen....it's hard. Talk to someone, get counseling if necessary, but don't beat yourself up, it only hurts you in the long run. As Grace said, be kind to yourself. We're all human and not perfect.

    We all struggle from time to time. Hope you get back on track quickly. Take care of the depression. I am an emtional eater so I still catch myself binging sometimes. The differences is the amount to binge. It scares me when I eat with no control.

    @jerzeegirl- http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

    Thank you everyone. It all started with small late night snacks..then escalated to nightly binges and high carb/sugar/fat meals. At one point I stopped eating actual cooked food and just ate chips/cookies/ice cream. I'll probably give my surgeon a call and confess everything haha.

    You are brave to put it out there and risk hearing what others have to say. That's what I try to do when I really mess up and thankfully, everyone here tends to be very supportive. Like Grace said, please be kind to yourself. You have to now take it day to day and not look back no matter how hard that is. We tend to beat the snot out of ourselves and treat ourselves much, much worse than we would ever treat someone else. Now that you have your own attention, take advantage of that and make a plan - day by day if you have to but please treat yourself well. Love your body and feed it what it needs to function at full capacity. That will help your brain to do what it was meant to do. If we feed it sugar, it will go to sleep on you. lol I don't know if this helps, but know that we are cheering for you and KNOW you can get back on track!! Take care and please keep us posted on your progress! Hugs to you (as my friend Gayle says)!
