    Default Rice a good thing?

My husband has his surgery Oct 19th and has been eating finely pulsed foods. Has anyone had trouble with rice this soon after surgery? Would it be ok if it's pulsed up too? I don't know why, but think of it as a food that could get stuck, like seeds. Am I being too cautious? He loves rice!!

I was told to stay away from rice, but Your Doctor May Vary. What are the post op instructions?

I too was told to stay away from Rice, Pasta and bread for a minimum of 6 months. Follow your doctor's post-op directions.

I was also told no rice or pasta. crunchy toast or crackers was okay 8 weeks out (though I don't eat those either)

I was told to avoid rice until 4 months after surgery. I would see what your Dr. says because I was also told to stay away from fresh fruit and veggies for 4 months as well. Some people said they were eating salads within a few weeks. So I guess it depends on the doctor and their post op instructions.

The carbs are not good for him this soon, he can eventually have rice again but as a side or a bite or two.

brown whole grain rice is allowed for me. it's DELICIOUS, and ive been eating it since week two. it should not be the main course but in a chicken burrito wrapped in a whole grain tortilla...mmmmmmm or in a stir fry with diced chicken so good.

I avoided most carbs if not all for at least a month. The only thing I had when I went to purees was a couple days of "easter dinner type meal" ... since my surgery was around that. Hubby took ground turkey and peas, added instant mashed potatoes with some cranberry jelly... pureed the entire thing. It looked disgusting... grey..lumpy... but those (almost) 2 TBSP tasted like HEAVEN
Straight forward. Straight facts. Whether you like the truth or not... I'm not made of sugar coating

Thank you all! I did finally find the paperwork and it also says to avoid for 4-6 months. My daughter in law fixed us chicken and dumplings on Sunday and I blended that up against my better judgement, but he was begging for something "real". No problems from it, and he ate very little, but I told him I did not want to push our luck anymore. Thanksgiving will be tough for him I know.
