Default protein shakes told to stop

went to see a dietician she told me to stop using protein shakes now as i am are full solids now she said just have more milk (glass of milk) once or twice a day.
It seems in the uk once you have passed the healing stage they don't like you to use protein shakes. She pointed out that not using protein shakes will help alot more with my weight loss!! as i eat alot of fish now etc so there is no need to supplement protein in my diet.

My doctor doesn't want me drinking protein shakes either, they want me to get my protein from food.

I was told the same thing but when I stopped for 3 months so did my weight loss. Stalls suck. I started back on them and I'm still losing slowly but faster when I stopped. I figure I'll use them once a day till I hit my goal.

I don't drink them anymore. I'm about midway through the pureed stage, but I just can't stand the taste of them anymore. My doctor told me to get some unflavored Unjury protein for a boost, which I will do. If you think about it, when you drink a protein shake, you are not only getting the protein, but adding about 150-190 calories to your intake every day. Which could potentially add up and make the scale go the wrong way or not move at all, once you start eating regular food all the time.

I believe I need to keep the protein drinks in my diet. I do better on weightloss when I get in 100 grams of protein so in order for me to do that I have to supplement

I'm only 2 months out, but protein shakes helps supplement my protein. I think when you are ready to come off of them, then you do. However, I work with a lot of GI doctors, who supplement their day with protein shakes (they are not sleevers). I think you have to find what works for you. I am learning everyone is different.

I'm with Texgal, I use protein shakes daily. Mt doctor's office also prefers that people be on "real food" but I used protein shakes way before I ever thought of surgery, way back when I was at a decent weight. So I just like getting a LOT of protein in daily and I just can't eat that amount of food. I'd say at 7 months out with my loss, it's working fine for me.

I have at least one a day for breakfast. I'm not a big breakfast eater, never have been. I was one of those kids that never ate in the mornings. But, I'm always thirsty when I get up, so it's just logical for me to have my protein shake in the morning to 1.) get a good jump on my protein for the day, and 2.) I pour it over 6-8 ice cubes, so I get started on my fluids for the day, at least 16oz.

You just have to do what you feel is best for you. I generally don't snack during the day, and I'm not sure I would meet my protein for the day without a shake in the morning. I can eat anything, from steak to chicken to pork chops, but at only 3oz at a meal, I'm sure I would be lacking in protein.

My dietitian had said the same not to rely on protein shakes & to get more protein from food like lentils & blended chicken in my soup. Our post surgery advice & diet seems to be very different in the UK to our US cousins, although the stages of diet are very similar.

I like the protein shakes..it is an easy way to get 20 grams of protein in my daily diet. I get the rest of my protein from food and still can't eat enough food to get in all my daily protein in without the shakes. 60 grams is alot to eat.
