    Default Here's Hoping

Hi, my name is Jackie Brindle. I am not extremely over-weight, my BMI does not meet thee requirements for bariatric surgery. But I am very diabetic and because of that I am having a lot of trouble with my liver. I have done a lot of research and have found that these bariatric surgeries make diabetes almost non-existent. If I don't have to stick myself with a needle more than 6 times per day and deal with ulcers on my feet as well as all the damn medications I take every day I would be a welcome relief. Right now even though I don't drink I have stage 2 liver disease caused from my diabetes. The right lobe of my liver is almost down to my right hip bone. I am miserable, I realize that there are side effects from from the surgery but they can't be any worse than what Im experiencing now. Oh, by the way I'm from Evansville Indiana...Sorry! Does anyone have any advice?

Are you juvenile diabetic or type 2? If a specialist says the surg. would work for you and the insurance will not pay, you can look into self pay.

Have your PCP refer you to a Bariatric Surgeon in your area. Some insurances are now covering some WLS's for control of diabetics with a BMI of 30, or even less if diabetics can not be controlled other wise. But each insurance co has their own rules. They have been getting some amazing results. Best of luck.

Highest weight 440 lbs. lowest weight 9.5 lbs at birth
    Date of surgery weight 340
    12 week checkup 301 BMI <50 yeah!
Weight on birthday 3/24/48 Goal 285 would be nice.
